Considering how much supplemental marketing material alone needs to be designed, created, planned and executed I think it's more or less impossible to contain a leak for something like this.

I used to work at a brand agency and even for some small time bullshit like a new real-estate project there's going to be about 50 different people involved at some point or another and most of them have very little stake in the matter beyond getting paid for some contract work. For a new console there's going to be thousands of people involved at one stage or another.

And you don't just get to bring the dates forward so easily, not when you have a big campaign launch date. It's months of preparation just to get it ready for a specific date.
