That wouldn't matter since there exists an alternate universe where he decides not to destroy the multiverse. Eh no. He wants to go to the original universe at the beginning I believe and destroy it before decisions can be made. But I see what you are saying. In the end he says it doesn't really matter when his plan is foiled and I assume it's because he assumes a alternate world we be made where he succeeds --- I put my heart and soul into my work and I fear I have lost my mind in the process ...
