Topic | How shit are your finances? |
MacadamianNut3 03/29/24 1:53:55 PM #19: | Mine are fine, probably silver since I should have a pension when I retire but I don't have investments. Compared to others my age it's bad, but I was in grad school up until 27 where I didn't have to pay for school but also wasn't able to save much ($30k a year living stipend in Indiana). So I really didn't start making money until 27 and even so I was a contractor (post doc) for 3 years where with the cost of living in the DMV and making sure I had some kind of emergency fund account put me just above even.
Then that got wiped out for a down payment for my home so pretty much started over again at 30. 35 now and I've rebounded from that but yeah I'm a decade behind a lot of people I know when it comes to finances like retirement funds and the size of a saving account. Other friends from grad school either lived with their parents for a considerable amount of time and saved up a ton with income from their jobs, or were married or in long term relationships. That and my family's spending habits bit them in the ass with a vengeance during this time and I've had to financially support them here and there. --- Roll Tide & Go Irish ... Copied to Clipboard! |
