I mean, he really tried to make peace with the people in his life and I don't think there was a genuine malicious bone in his body. Even after everything Jimmy and Kim did to him, he was far nicer to them than he needed to be. Even before he got killed, he was trying to de-escalate the situation and protect Jim and Kimmy rather than trying to get the fuck out of there.
