So the way the emoji is most commonly used is to say Im dead laughing basically and you can see how it got that meaning via the Apple version of the emoji, which preserves the grin that a skull has.

But on Samsung/Google, the skull doesnt have that funny element, in fact the Samsung one even looks sad. So its hard as an Android user to parse that the skull signifies laughter or enjoyment.

The Apple version actually uses a new version of the skull with the lower jaw removed, which lessens the comedic appearance and is why this is the emoji can be used more unambiguously to actually convey death or danger. But the Android versions copy and paste the same skull with some added bones in the back, which makes it so its not obvious that you could get any difference in meaning from these.
