Nah, Anakin should never have been that young in the movies-- but I blame that on Lucas and the fact that he had nothing but yes men surrounding him so no one told him it was a dumb idea to have a cutesie 8 year old playing future Vader. I don't know why this would upset people/fans. It's not like these people are born monsters and are monsters their entire lives.
