Saw it last night. Great movie and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I don't know the books or the original movie very well, so to me it felt like a lot of stuff was crammed into this as a lot of notable events seemed to happen, as opposed to a few notable ones, however maybe that's just cause the 1st movie spent so much time building up for the 2nd to be more action-packed.

No, you got it right. That's a pretty good explanation of the first book. After the Atreides are all but wiped out, there isn't *too* much action until the very end where everything goes to shit for the Emperor.

And I just want to add that Christopher Walken as the last Padashah Emperor was fucking hilarious. I audibly laughed when he was introduced on screen.
