Sadly seems to be that way for the foreseeable future in both Canada and the US.

I guess you could argue Canada is slightly better off because the other parties win some seats, but it's always going to be a Liberal or CPC candidate as the leader.

But then the alternative to the alternative is something like Mexico or the European countries have where there's an election every time somebody sneezes and the parties change so often that some crazy might get elected by accident (Looking at you Italy).
