The problem with this is Smith already sent his arguments against it to them weeks if not a month ago and the USSC intentionally put the case on hold so that 2 months from now they'll start deliberations on the case. Smith tried to save time in case they did take it up and they faxed him back a middle finger.

They're clearly stalling for Trump's benefit as the new timelines would likely place the trial too close to the election for DOJ's comfort, when if not for their fuckery it would have been happening in summer.

They could have already been hearing this case 3 weeks ago, they took their time to respond AND THEN added a 2 month wait to proceed.

I've also been hearing people of the legal world saying it indicates they want to agree and disagree with some of his argument as they didn't just wholly dismiss it.

This. I don't think this SCOTUS majority would rule in favor of Trump's immunity, but they are clearly causing unnecessary delay to benefit Trump.
