Seems like the customer is creating a problem here by saying that in the first place.

That said, if you're the customer in this situation and the other workers just mean nothing to you for whatever reason, you could bypass this by dropping it under the table and claiming you saw it fall out of her pocket before you hand it to her.

You'll know what happened and she'll know what happened, but so long as you stick to your story, those other folks can't lay any claim to that money because it was always hers.

Had a guy do this to me when I worked at the grocery store... we weren't supposed to accept tips and I told him this and then he insisted, saying he saw it fall out of my pocket and he just stuck the money in my shirt pocket.
but his tip was like less than 5 bucks right? no big deal
