No, it's not basically over, people are misreading that quote and it's becoming silly.

This is year 4 of the PS5 life cycle, which typically, consoles last around 8 years. So they mean it is in the second half of its lifecycle and that sales should start plateauing as more people buy it. It is not on the way out, I would actually say it is hitting its stride now.

If you have a PS4, you can play a lot of games in a much better manner in terms of performance and resolution, especially ones latter in the life. Even though exclusives are clearly becoming more and more rare, it still has almost all 3rd party games and a small number of actual exclusives like Spiderman 2 and upcoming FF7 Rebirth (both, I'm assuming, are timed).

Get one if you want but pick out other games that you are interested in first.
