This isn't an argument regarding the quality of the game's ending - that's irrelevant - but saying that the ending doesn't touch on any of the themes (the value of synthetic life, humanity's ability to determine their own destiny, Shepard's struggle with free will, etc) of the series is incorrect.
That's not what he said. He said it doesn't tie in and goes completely against them. Which is true.
