Are you going to argue that Yesterday, (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, Good Vibrations, I Want to Hold Your Hand, Where Did Our Love Go?, Bohemian Rhapsody, My Generation, Born to Run, Every Breath You Take, and so on and so on ad infinitium aren't pop songs?

You could make good arguments for a couple of those, but Bohemian Rhapsody, My Generation, and Born to Run at the least are not AT ALL pop songs.

They absolutely are. Genres are merely vaguely-defined concepts. Pop music is the broadest umbrella under which music can be placed. By its own definition, a pop song is a song that has broad appeal to a wide audience. Only over the course of our lifetimes has pop music taken on an additional but secondary meaning as a more specific style of music. The meaning of "pop" and the songs that are "pop" do not create a mutual exclusivity.
