Winning an arm wrestling match...easily

My roommate and I have a long history of arm wrestling matches. We have ever since we became best friends in 8th grade.

He is slightly stronger than me in most ways but for some reason, he simply can't beat me in arm wrestling.

I never let him forget it either. Whenever he gets a little cocky, I challenge him and he always accepts, thinking this could be his day. Well, the last time we arm wrestled...it certainly wasn't my day.

He was making fun of me for getting my ass kicked in my cage match a few weeks earlier. I wasn't actually getting mad but I said "I CAN STILL KICK YOUR ASS."

My friend's older brother (at the time, our other roommate) told him he should arm wrestle me since it had been a while and maybe he could beat me now. So we laid down on the kitchen floor (we do it this way so that it's almost impossible to cheat) and started our match.

Right away, I started just destroying him. I slowed down, all three of us laughing, and asked him if he was seriously trying. He said that he was so I decided to readjust and go in for the kill. As I shifted and took most of my weight off my left arm, shifting a lot of it to my right shoulder, we heard something that sounded like a car driving slowly on gravel.

I stopped laughing instantly, slammed his arm down, and jumped to my feet.

"Welp, there goes that arm," I told them as I stared at my limp, borderline useless arm. They insisted it couldn't be that bad and since I had no health insurance, I pretended to believe them.

Two months later, when my arm has pretty much become a noodle, I bought some coverage and went to get it checked out.

~345 degree tear of my labrum. I got surgery a few weeks later (and $20,000 in bills later) and my arm has never been more than 75% of what it once was.

Luckily, the insurance cover liked 90% of it so I didn't go bankrupt. But it killed my (admittedly, lackluster) MMA career.

On the bright side, when I got it out of the immobilizer, I picked up tennis to rehab it since I couldn't afford physical therapy. I had been watching tennis a lot and now I play it even more and have gotten damn good.

But with my right arm at full health, I could be so much better. Never thought that winning an easy arm wrestling match would cost me so much.
