Yes we do. The planet he's on is Earth. Future-Earth, anyway... Pikmin 2 makes it more obvious, because instead of rebuilding his ship, he's collecting treasures that are really just common bits of litter, like dead batteries and stuff.
But yeah, they outright stated that they had to make Olimar larger for Brawl because his actual size would just be too small to work. IIRC, his canon height is supposed to be about the same as the diameter of a quarter.
