The elder gods have given you 5 minutes to consider your course of action, magically stopping time through elder god powers to allow you to think.
Then I'd probably give him the money, especially if the same gods have decreed that he is to suffer for one minute if I shoot him.
I'm nonviolent and I feel guilt pretty easily, which is admittedly surprising given the cultures I was born and raised into.
