Bitter old man who lets VENGEANCE totally consume him. I kinda like that it's an interesting flaw. I also like his final battle with Golbez. It's also nice that his sacrifice actually sticks in a game where they never do-- it's kind of a shame his character never really evolves but what can you do.
The thing that cheapens it all is that by endgame Rydia (if you're high enough level anyway), Golbez, and FuSoYa are casting Meteo for free. Hell, Palom can learn it if you get him high enough level. Not that you could without a game genie but yeah.
