apples business model seems to be "charge twice what the hardware is worth for an inferior software selection", can't see that ever appealing to me!

As I said, I don't care much for Apple, either. I agree that their products are overpriced and all, but it seems to me that the iOS gets more software than Android, or at least more attention. At least, I've looked for certain apps "available for iPhone" and I see that they are not offered on Android, and it is rarely the other way around (excluding apps that do stuff specific to iOS/Android, like maintenance apps). It seems to be worse with tablets. But Android apps seem like they can do more, because at least iPhone people tell me that they can't believe my phone will actually put my phone on vibrate at school and respond to texts when I'm driving, etc., from an app.

Really, I think the inferior software selection only applies to Mac. All of this is in terms of the number of applications available, making no assumptions on quality or what they can do.
