IT's not perfect, but 3.5 is an unbalanced mess and 4e makes all the classes super bland (unless several more books have changed this, but if you're just using the base books it'll seriously feel all the same).

Anyone that wants to play Pathfinder, this website is licensed by the creators and has basically everything for free that's been out for more than a month or so IIRC.
