Yep! Basically, I have caused every one of you to readily admit that what the Internet is worth to you is SUBSTANTIALLY more than what you pay for it. That no matter how much you hate Comcast or whoever your ISP is, they are giving you an absolutely tremendous value!

But you do realize that said value only exists BECAUSE the internet is cheap enough that everyone can use it.

If internet access cost $4000 like Gordon Gekko's cell phone, it would be practically worthless because no one would communicate using it and no company (except maybe NetJets or something) would even bother setting up any online services. And Gordon Gekko's phone still gave him mobile telephone service at least despite being expensive--making the internet expensive would necessarily decrease its value and cripple its functionality beyond all repair or worth.

It's not even a case of "thank the early adopters for making it cheaper for everyone" because internet access, once it was made available to the public, was never obscenely expensive as far as I know.
