Rest of my life? Yeesh, 1 million doesn't even get you a good retirement these days. ~20 million to "hell no" depending on the definition of usage.

As for the video, counterpoint: How much would you need to be paid to stop using roads or sidewalks? I'd suspect in 10-20 years the internet will be critical infrastructure on the level of roads. I don't want to be a 40-year old and suddenly be completely unable to shop, get information, or basically do anything at all.

Similarly for roads, you'd place a high value because damn, I dunno what you can do without roads. Sit in a retirement home, pretty much? Or does that count as using roads by proxy? In which case, you're just plain hosed unless you're going to be an Buddhist ascetic or somesuch. Hence, roads are public property. They're valuable to everyone, no one can deny that this is the case, so everyone pays for them.
