It's terrible and ruined everything(a bit of an exaggeration).
If they wanted to pad the game they should have had some mini dungeon pop up from under the tree or something, and do the fetch quest that way. Honestly would have made it a million times more bearable.
This is exactly correct. I'm thinking of like the ice cavern in OoT.
