House isn't meant to be a Holmes adaptation though. It's inspired by it, but hey Hercule Poirot was inspired by Holmes and he's about as far off from Holmes as you can be outside "he's smart." Can't really call it a bastardization of Holmes when he isn't meant to be him.

Also House is not meant to be an adaptation but they make so many references to him in the earlier seasons it is more than a passing mention.
