The bow is great, but it's not with you for much of the game. The Beetle is with you from the beginning and is used in just about every dungeon, if not every area. The first mandatory upgrade reinvented the item, and the two optional ones turned it into a total beast. It's clear that more time went into developing the Beetle than any of Link's other gadgets sans the sword. Also, I actually never had any problems steering the Beetle with motion controls, whereas I sometimes did with the bow. Regardless, I think all the items were great besides the Gust Bellows. Even the Bug Net managed to be fun somehow.

It is pretty awesome how the Beetle does have that extra functionality and I did enjoy it more once I had the quick upgrade. I highly enjoyed getting the ability to grab bombs; that was genius on their part. And not getting the Bow earlier is a big problem, I will give you. It would've been nice if they'd given the Bow a similar treatment to the Beetle and given it to you in say, the 3rd dungeon but without the ability to charge arrows so as to not make it OP early on. The Beetle's motion controls weren't bad but it's one of those things where I still frankly would've preferred traditional controls and don't see the benefit to the motion control, whereas I found that the bow, with the exception of when you had to precisely hit a far off target, was very much improved by the motion controls.

I also enjoyed the gust bellows, if only for the novelty; I thought it was mostly well used though I think they could've improved its use a lot more and taken a hint from the magnet gloves in the 2D games by making it blow AND suck. And I'd also prefer not having rooms where you're supposed to clear the entire floor of dust. >_>

C drawing the bow just felt like a gimmick for me, much better to use it normally. I wouldn't call the SS bow the best item in the series but I do like how they legitimized it as a weapon where for the most part in previous zelda games you would only really bother using it for things you can't hack and slash

I felt the same way about the C-draw until I really used it. With good C-draw use you're like god damn Legolas in that overplayed clip of him just endlessly shooting arrows. I absolutely annihilated the Goblins in Farore's room in the last dungeon as well as the pair of Shield Moblins on your descent to the last Ghiranim fight with C draw.
