Q: Okay thats nice, but how exacty does training work?

A: When you are at the "grey" ranks (Private -> Sergeant**, which are indicated by a grey rank icon) you want to do all of your training at the 'Marketplace'. So after you have a handful of soldiers you will go to the city center and click the [Patrol The Marketplace] button. This will generate a random situation which will lead you to a small battle. You and your soldiers will all earn experience from this battle.

When you are at the "blue ranks" you want to do all of your training on the best possible terrain for your army. If you are training in Iceland for example your soldiers will receive a 5% bonus to their stats on Plains and a 4% bonus to their stats on Snow. And so if you are training terrain neutral units like Champions or Halbediers you will want to train on +5% Plains. If you are training more specific units like Vikings you would prefer to do your training on Snow where you get +7% instead. It all depends on which country you join and what kind of units you are using, but from Lieutenant through General you want to train on your best terrain only. The terrain you train on depends on the terrain of the city you are in. If you are in Reykjavik (which is snow) you will have a [Patrol The Snow] option available. If you are in Vik (which is plains) you will have a [Patrol the Plains] option available at the city center instead.

After General* you switch from Terrain Training to what is called "Border Training". To do border training you have to be in a city that borders an enemy city. From there you can click [Go to the Border] at the city center and there will be a button that says "Attack" beneath the "Border Training" line. Do not press any of the attack buttons ABOVE the border training line, those are for something else entirely. Border training is the most difficult kind of training and it will get significantly harder after you hit General** and after you hit Baron.

Q: All my soldiers are injured, what do I do?

A: Wait. You can take a look at all of your injured soldiers at the hospital page. It shows how much gold it would cost to 'Force Heal' them, and it also indicates how many "Ticks" it takes for them to heal naturally. A "Tick" occurs every 30 minutes (at :00 and :30) and your soldiers will all regain 30 HP every tick. Depending on how much gold you have you can usually pay to heal all your soldiers up instead of waiting the entire time for them to heal naturally.

Q: What are heroes and how do they help me?

A: Heroes are your own personal Super Units. You can add 3 heroes to your army. The first one because available at Corporal (so don't forget to buy a hero onces you have 91 XP). The second slot opens up at Lieutenant (1001 XP), and the 3rd hero slot is available at General (8001 XP).

Once you own a hero the [Armory] button becomes available and you will go to the armory page to equip your heroes with items and teach them skills that will be vital to your armies success. The most important hero skills are normally Leadership, Healing, Merchant and Trainer and it is important to learn how to make good use of them.
