Sure, you can take it as a spectrum. If the end of it (humans) are infinity times better than second place.
I imagine the closest on the spectrum would be the many close relatives of homo sapiens between us and our common ancestor with the other apes.
And while they were less intelligent, they were not "infinitely" less intelligent. Whatever that means.
