Usually the Canadian conservatives don't take a strong stance on social issues. Was it just a funding objection?
It's really weird. They've claimed that Insite is, at various times, a health hazard, and a safe haven for criminals. Harper has spent millions of dollars on studies -- the majority of which came back with results he ignored -- and appeals. I don't think Harper cares about where the money comes from, as Insite is funded by the city of Vancouver.
