yeah joe cortez is the f***ing worst ref in boxing. the fact that not only does he continue to get these high-profile bouts but that he is in the hall of fame is evidence of how f***ing corrupt the sport is
re: the headbutt - yeah, ortiz was getting frustrated. but it didn't mean he was entirely ineffective. he was missing a lot against the ropes but he was also connecting - it was effective aggression. rounds like that brought oscar de la hoya nearly to a draw against mayweather. there would have been adjustments or it could have been really close.
