The idea that you just grind in Horde and there's no real benefit to completing it (do it once maybe for the cheevos) means you're stuck in wave 1-20 all the time.
I don't think the grinding aspect is why wave 1-20 are the main waves, I think its mostly because it takes so damn long to get to 50. I like horde a lot, but I rarely want to play for that long. I don't think people quit because they just want to level something up real quick, because spending that $1000 to start will get you nowhere. I think people quit out, because thats how people are. Horde is definitely ideal with a full squad of people you know.
I agree that they should throw people in in the first 9 waves, though I guess I might get a little annoyed if everytime I did quick match for horde I was thrown in a game already started, though maybe they could put an option in whether you are OK with joining games in progress.
and yeah I think the church is ideal for the mercy base, unless you run into a situation like tim where Im guessing they came from opposite sides and you are totally trapped.
