I don't know if that's necessarily true. That Advokaiser has been posting in the stats topic recently, and unless he's an alt of someone who is or was once a regular, he's relatively new to the stats topic. He's been asking lots of questions about contests and stuff, which is good.
If you want to know a little bit of my backstory, I created my account on mid-2010, but I used to visit GameFAQs since 2008/2009 every now and then. GotD is the first contest I've ever participated in, and oh boy was it fun, even though it lasted way longer than I expected (2 months? I thought it was supposed to last 2 weeks!), so I've never been on a Character Battle, and I had practically no knowledge on games' strengths and such. That was the time when I thought Uncharted 2 > Fallout 3, and that GTA: San Andreas was at the same level (if not higher), than FFX and RE4 (yeah, you had to look at my facial expression when Golden Sun made the upset against GTA: SA [why did I ignore KamikazePotato's wise words talking about RELEASE DAY upset?!])).
Anyway, those were the times were I used to think R/B/Y was a joke runner-up for the Best. Game. Ever. contest, just like Missingno and L-Block, until somebody told me that it was, you know, actually SERIOUS. I also used to think Diablo II was an obscure game that was going to get stomped by MGS4 by a margin of 30/70. Anyway, if you're interested, I created a document expressing all of my pre- and post-contest thoughts on the GotD contest, if you want to take a look at it.
But still, thanks to everything I learned through GotD (and looking to past polls on the site), and practically stealing KamikazePotato's bracket predictions with a few minor modifications of my own (Brawl > Melee, MP > HL2, MM > G/S/C, etc... hehehe...) I managed to get onto the 11th position of the Guru. I also made some nice predictions in the Oracle Challenge, too.
