Backstage we go, where Mean Gene is interviewing Mongo McMichael, Kevin Greene, and their wives. They cut a promo on Flair and Anderson. Macho Man comes in and says that they are the winning team.
Match Six: Chris Benoit vs. Kevin Sullivan w/Jimmy Hart in a falls count anywhere match
Before Sullivan can even get in the ring, Benoit attacks him. Benoit and Sullivan go through the crowd and going up through the stands. They then fight backstage, and go into the men’s room. They are duking it out in the men’s room, and a crowd of people start coming in to watch the match up close. Eventually, security shows up to keep the people back.
Sullivan slams the bathroom door on Benoit’s head several times. Each time he does, I cringe just a bit. Sullivan tries to dunk Benoit’s head in the urinal, but to no avail. As they are starting to leave the bathroom, a woman appears in the crowd, much to Dusty Rhode’s amusement. Both men exchange blows by using a (plastic) trash can. There’s a huge crowd around them now.
Back in the arena itself, Sullivan throws Benoit down the row of steps. Sullivan throws Benoit over the guardrail now. After moving around the arena, Sullivan then gets thrown down on the guardrail. Benoit goes under the ring, and tries to pull out a table, to no avail. Benoit throws Sullivan over another guardrail, and gets the table out (which Tony thinks is a chair, for some reason.)
Benoit sets the table up in the corner, and starts punching at Sullivan again. Benoit thrown into the table, Sullivan goes for an elbow and… he misses! The table doesn’t break however. Benoit sets the table up on the top turnbuckle. Sullivan leaning on the table, Benoit tries an elbow, to no avail. Benoit now set up on top of the table. Hart and a referee are holding the table in place. Benoit on top of the table…. SUPERPLEX OFF THE TABLE on Kevin Sullivan! Benoit gets the three!
Winner by pinfall: Chris Benoit
Postmatch, Benoit is attacking Sulllivan. Arn Anderson comes out, and yanks Benoit off of Sullivan. Arn and Benoit stand off briefly.. And Arn kicks Sullivan right in the gut. The crowd explodes as Benoit and Anderson destroy Sullivan. The DoD come out, but Benoit and Arn escape.
Great brawl. It was fun to watch, without being too silly, yet there were some awesome spots in it. For a twelve minute match, it was definitely one to catch. ***½
Mean Gene with Miss Elizabeth and Woman. Arn, Benoit, Flair, and Heenan now there as well. Arn cuts a promo, stating that Benoit earned the right to be called a Horsemen. DoD and Horsemen are apparently at war now. They then cut a promo on Mongo and Greene, basically stating the are ready. Good promo.
Match Seven: Lord Steven Regal w/Jeeves vs. Sting
Sting with a massive pop. Sting starts off early on with the advantage over Regal. Regal is quick to take control of this match, with a few European Uppercuts. For some reason, Tony and Rhodes grow quiet for a minute or so. Regal goes out of the ring and jaws with one of the fa.. Wait. Is that ECW Straw Hat Guy? Sure as hell looks like him, save for the hat.
Regal with most of the offense now. He applies several holds onto Sting, but Sting never taps. Sting with some quick offense, and with an abdominal stretch, but Regal knocks him down. After some more submission holds, he applies the Regal stretch on Sting. He holds it on for a few seconds, but lets it go to attack Sting some more. Sting however finally comes back, and is beating down on Regal. Scorpion Deathlock on Regal, whom taps out almost immediately.
Winner by submission: Sting
Good matchup. Regal got a whole lot of offense in, but Sting was able to come out with the win. ***¾
