Match Seven: Nasty Boys vs. Public Enemy

These two teams get nine minutes, and this match is basically brawl. They fight around the ring, in the ring, and just about everywhere else. Eventually, Rocco Rock gets a trashcan, but the Nasty Boys use it against him, causing a DQ.

Winners by DQ: Public Enemy

Eh. This wasn’t as good as their PPV match a months back. *

Apparently, there was a video package of Hogan, and of Mongo/Greene between these two match, but apparently the version I’m watching has neither. Ah well. I didn’t miss much.

Main Event: Sting and Luger© vs. Ric Flair and Arn Anderson w/Miss Elizabeth and Woman

Fairly good main event, that runs pretty damn long. However, the match ends when Giant shows up.

Winners by DQ: Sting and Lex Luger

**½

Giant in the ring now, and is being interviewed by Mean Gene. Basically hypes up the match between him and Luger at GAB, and promises Luger will leave on a stretcher.

We go to the announce booth as Heenan and Bischoff hype up the GAB some more. Heenan is yelling about Savage, Bischoff makes an.. Odd handgesture, and Heenan shuts up and runs off. Turns out, Heenan is running from him. Bischoff wants to know what the surprise is. He points behind Bischoff and his running buddy shows up. He yanks the mic from Bischoff hands and utters these now immortal words:

“You’re been sitting out here for six months running your mouth. This is where the big boys play, huh? Look at the adjective - play. We ain’t here to play. Now he said last week, that he was going to bring somebody out here. I’m here. You still don’t have your three people. You know why? Because nobody wants to face us. This show is about as interesting as Mark Shot reading excerpts from Mein Kampf… Yeah, no trouble because you know I’ll kick your teeth down your throat. Where’s your three guys? You couldn’t get a paleontologists to get a couple of these fossils cleared, you don’t have enough guys off a dialysis machine to get a team? … Where’s Hogan? Where’s Hogan? Out doing another episode of Blunder in Paradise? Where’s the Macho Man, huh? Doing some Slim Jim commercial? Hey, we’re here. You wanna say something?”

Bischoff then gets on the mic, says he’ll go to WCW Office, and then get the three guys. They’ll announce it this Sunday on the PPV. He says if they’ll show up, they’ll get a fight.

That ends Nitro for us again.

Grammatical errors aside, the newest outsider’s debut promo was really effective. The rest of the show.. Didn’t do it for me. Too many squashes for my liking. The few matches that got time were either meh, or pretty average. From a storyline standpoint, there were a few good things, but nothing to write home about. 5.5/10

TV Rating: 2.6, just .1 point lower than Raw. This however is the final Nitro for a good while that will do worse than Raw. Next week is the start of the 84 consecutive weeks of Nitro beating Raw.

Other Nitro Notes:

1. So, just wondering. I might try to hold another WCW PPV watch for the Great American Bash, but only if I know people are willing to watch with me. If so, then we can watch it Saturday night. Otherwise, I’ll probably watch it sometime tomorrow.
