Was there anyone really waiting for the Supreme Court's decision to make up their mind? It seems to me like you either know your position on Obama/Romney already or still won't care.
Because the candidates are so similar, there is a HUGE portion of voters that are still undecided, and will probably be undecided until the day of election. Because the candidates largely agree on the big issues, the undecided have to make up their minds using the little details, which makes their decision really volatile.
