Maybe it's because he only went to the playoffs five times, ever, and he was on those late 90's Canucks teams which had a lot of talent but failed miserably.
No he wasn't. He got traded to the Panthers when the Canucks were still hanging out near the bottom of the league. It wasn't until after he was on Florida that the Canucks started getting better.
edit - Unless you meant them being at the bottom of the standings was them failing miserably. I was thinking you were talking about those Bertuzzi/Morrison/Naslund Canucks that did well in the season but terrible in the playoffs.
