Worked for the gamer's interest? Yeah, no, not with them refusing to honor my PS1's warranty and charging me money for not even attempting to fix my problem regarding a DRE. True, that's an individual case, but the class action about DREs with PS2s was not an individual case.
I'm not going to deny that Sony has done a lot for gaming when it comes to developing hardware and software, but they're terrible when it comes to customer support and customer relations. Which, in my opinion, would be a part of "working for the gamer's interest."
No company is perfect. I bashed them quite a bit for removing Linux and for the hacking mess-up. Their PRs were also completely inadequate before Kevin Butler came in the spotlight.
But when you outclass the competition so much, you deserve the praise.
