Being a fan of the show myself, I feel that this show should've stayed a guilty pleasure and the fanbase should never have been this huge and expressive about liking a girls cartoon. I can see why they're hated as well with some of the filth I've accidentally seen. To quote someone:
"To be fair, it's one thing if you take a supposedly "girly" cartoon and make it for all audiences and another thing when you take a franchise known for being "too girly" and make it entertaining. There's going to be more skeptics with the latter than the former. I do believe Faust succeeded in her goal, but there's been several successful "girly" shows before Friendship is Magic. It's mostly the "My Little Pony" brand that catches people off guard. Less that it's girly."
