eh? i've already said that i like the show. it was one of those 'okay this can't be true internet.' followed by clicking next into the 4th episode going 'goddammit internet.'

that's neither here nor there though and nothing to do with it. more to do with the fact that i quite dislike my double standards and a lot of the internet loves to live by them, this board included at times. there is really no fundamental difference between fans of both MLP and fans of Pokemon. if you argue which has more obsessed ones then the answer is likely going to be Pokemon simply because it's that much bigger. matter of volume there; pokemon has 1000 people for every 10 MLP has, so if you've got even 5% of the Pokemon fanbase at the crazy level MLP has, you're still going to drastically out number them. at the least the MLP vid brett showed earlier gave you a mature warning on top - looking for pokemon, ash, gary gets you stuff without any warning at all. some of the stuff that DOES have warnings would be words that aren't even in english, so if you're a kid trying to look stuff up on earlier pokemon, yaoi fics will be on your screen sooner than later.

i've been to my share of conventions, met my share of people, and have found that there's a general scale of craziness to each fandom. bronies are more 'out there' because it's recent. it's not THAT much crazier (if at all, this one escaped me in the early years when it grew hard) than Powerpuff Girls were, which became 'accepted' after a decade of 'not being okay.' it's nowhere close to Pokemon which most people around here can relate to. it's definitely vocal online. that though comes as a matter of technology and time, so just be glad the internet was so young in '96-98. even then, Misty and Staryu. you know that picture and probably saved it on a floppy disk you don't know where the hell it is anymore.

that's really it. double standards are bad. people trying to pretend that what they like is so much different than something else when it really isn't are just fooling themselves, but the internet does this a lot, before eventually caving to logic and begrugingly accepts it.
