I don't think there's much difference between fast food and a "normal" restaurant where the average meal costs around $10. Those meals are all meant to be prepared and served in like eight minutes - clearly there's a lot of mass production going on there as well.


I meant that a restaurant that isn't a chain will usually put their own spin on things. Obviously if you order the same dish twice it's not going to be radically different or anything. It will taste the same, but it won't taste the same as that same dish in another restaurant. If you order a cheeseburger in McDonalds, chances are there isn't going to be any difference between that and the cheeseburger from the McDonalds a few blocks away.

edit: not to mention that good restaurants use well.. fresh food and not something that's frozen and produced to go out as quickly as possible
