Plus, Nintendo just posted a pretty huge loss. Their first one ever, I believe. I'm not pretending to be a marketing genius (though someone at Nintendo at least was for being able to take Wii as far as they have), but that tells me they need to do something drastic to rekindle interest in their products.
That loss was a drop in the bucket compared to their war chest of billions of dollars.
