The Burton Batman movies are a tribute to German Expressionism and feature a number of fantastic performances. The Spider-Man movies only operate on one level - the literal - and they don't even do that well.
this is the first i've ever heard of Burton's Batman movies being a tribute to an aesthetic movement and i am very much interested in reading an argument for this statement
and for that opinion on the Spider-Man movies! (well, for 1 and 2 since 3 is definitely trash)
