You desire more, because you are bored with the truly great things in life. The reason you're bored with these things is because you are surrounded by them and have access to them all the time.

Am I wrong?

I am surrounded by the material objects and and so called "truly great things in life" that people in poverty so do desire. So what?

The benefits of having all these riches is that I do not have to worry about whether or not my family will be going to sleep hungry, or whether the children of the district will survive a harsh winter. These things are but a given in District 1.

You know what I do get to focus on?

The desire for the victory of my great district. The desire to train as hard as I can in order to accomplish this goal. The desire to develop myself to my fullest mental and physical potential.

I do not have the time or the energy to be worrying about the "truly great things in life."

And I know that District 2 is not exactly struggling to fill their tables either. So what exactly is the difference between you and me except for a little boost in grandeur from being known as number one? I cannot imagine that there is much of one.
