It might be surprising to find out, but there is an alternative besides the absolutes of "These programs don't work" and "These programs are perfect." I'm not sure why the alternative to cutting off these programs entirely is seen as "They are perfect the way they are."
The homeschool situation is akin to amateurs and professionals competing against each other. It's not unfair that the professionals compete on the highest level, but there should be a place for amateurs to compete against each other as well.
