Even ignoring grandfather deals, t-mobile has been fantastic with prepaid Android. 70 for the phone, 30 a month for what you'd use it for, and still some extra. Only charge that's extra is tax. As for the phone itself? 2010 midrange, so it can do most of what you'd want, as a beginner. Your issue is with contracts. Prepaid though is godly.
