I've been in social work for about 3 years now. Worked my first two in home-based and made a shitload of money (Which all went into paying off university and credit debt unfortunately) at the expense of destroying my mental and physical health. Switched to community mental health close to a year ago and likely won't stay in here too much longer. It's much better but the pay is atrocious. Mental health therapy anywhere isn't going to pay much but it's pretty bad in Southern Indiana despite the high need. Once I get my LCSW I'm probably gonna jump into a private practice out of this garbage state so I can actually make a decent wage.

I'm about to peace out for up to 10 hours so feel free to discuss. I'm just 100% not going to raise the nomination requirement.

Current limit wording is meant to identify that if participation is low, I'll lower the amount needed, which I had to do for 1-3. I think raising the limit would be a bit unfair given the amount of people that have already participated under the understanding of 4 noms being enough.

I'll change the wording in the future though

What the fuck guys. I can't really adjust the rule at this point unfortunately, but given it took a week to fill out gen 4 I thought the 4-nom cutoff was golden. I guess all I can do now is know that future contests will need a higher cap. Anyway, thanks for the outrageous support, this is crazy. Hopefully nobody will be too upset with me. I'm upset too since I only used half of my noms :/

sources seem to conflict on whether wonderswan color counts as 5th or 6th gen (wikipedia says 5th, gamefaqs says 6th...)

this doesn't really matter since i strongly doubt anyone besides me would even nominate wsc games but i want to, so...

Got some time to do this before bed but will need to sift over it again, likely not until tomorrow night. Just sort of using the honor system for now so please feel free to make me aware of any mistakes on either my own counting or the counting of others in relation to their nominations.

RULES

• You have 20 individual nominations to use.
• You now have 2 doubles to use on any individual gam, though you can't double the same game twice.
• You can change noms if you like, just specify what's being dropped and added.
• I'll set the current limit at 4 nominations to be eligible for the contest. Higher nominations can lead to higher seeding, though.
• Games which appeared in a generation prior to Generation V are not eligible. Popular examples from last contest would be Link's Awakening or Doom.
• Arbitrary dates used for computer and arcade games ONLY: January 1, 1996 - December 31, 2000. Console games released on fifth gen systems not in this time are still eligible, we just need to sanction off when these other types of games are eligible.
• No compilations. Stuff like Final Fantasy Chronicles is not eligible. In the event of something like Arc the Lad Collection (I have no idea if there's another situation like this), the games need to be nominated individually.
• Similarly, enhanced ports aren't allowed. There needs to be a pretty substantial change for something from a previous gen to be allowed. Two immediate examples of games which aren't different enough despite some changes are Link's Awakening DX and Super Mario Deluxe. I'm more likely to bend in trickier cases if a game did not make a main bracket in a prior contest though.
• Nominations will last until we get 64 entrants and will close immediately after. I'll post a document for tracking once I have time.
• Don't be rude or beg for people to support your stuff.

Never saw the last topic or two. How was the side bracket winner determined? It doesn't look like you ran a poll for the second half of the top 8.

It was ran the same way, challonge just doesn't show the scores for some reason

If I had it my way, Super Metroid would have won. Was surprised it lost to Zelda, tbh. Feel like that wouldn't have happened on B8 a few years ago. Not saying anything bad towards Zelda, it just had a tendency to draw a lot of antivoting back during the days I ran the SNES contest. However, participation has been much higher this time around, so I think it's going to continue tricking where I think the board lies.

If I could've changed something, other than Minesweeper's inclusion, I wish I would've put Sonic 2 and Myst elsewhere. Sonic 2 likely could've beaten a couple of the 4-seeded games and it would have been nice if there was something other than Minesweeper (which should've been ineligible, not speaking of the quality of the game) not on a Nintendo system in the final 16. Myst I think I drastically underseeded. If put at 11 or 12, which would have likely been more appropriate, I think it could have pulled off an upset. Ah well.

Reception to the bracket was mostly positive from what I could tell, but any feedback helps!
