Nah. There isn't really any other word or meaning like you indicated before. I live and work in Japan in an all Japanese work environment. You could easily confirm for yourself with an online dictionary though, other than the from Buddhism there isn't anything else.

Yakuza's Japanese title is Ryu ga Gotoku, though, which at the most basic, translates to "Ryu is Fighting". Neither one makes for a very distinct title, though.

What? literally means "like a dragon".

Taiwan doesn't actually care about that stuff (outside the Senkaku islands), they just can't proclaim independence without starting a war. It's a formality at this point.

They don't recognize international law regarding that. Seriously, that's their actual position. Also not many people realize they don't just claim the Senkaku islands, but also claim Okinawa was actually part of historical China. There were a lot of rumors they were behind many of the anti-American military movements in Okinawa and recently a high-profile politician from there admitted to taking a large bribe from a Chinese company. They've seen the way Russia can just take territories from countries that can't or won't fight back and they want in on it.

The main reason the Japanese lost at Midway was because the US Navy could decode their ship-to-ship communications.

It's part of their terrible deployment strategy. Their strategy was bad, didn't get executed correctly and was decoded. Literally the worst possible combination. Who puts your carriers and escort ships in separate battle groups? Their strategy was overly complicated and didn't work as planned and the US knew all about it the whole time.

This is true and even history has had super powers fall in battle due to overestimating their opponent, attacking at the wrong time, superior tactics etc. There are many things that can go wrong or right in battle that can change at any given moment. This is why the optimal solution is to avoid a fight if possible.

Japan went from having a slight advantage early in the WWII Pacific theater to overwhelming defeat because they made a series of tactical and strategic blunders (in addition to underestimating the US). Midway being the biggest example of this. The Japanese force was superior to the American force on paper prior to Midway but basically messed up in almost every possible way before and during the battle.

wrong. lets not forget they run the south china sea so their fleet would be ready to move on a dime and our fleet would be out of position and out gunned.

Oh do we just kind of make up our own opinions and argue like that? I assumed we were going to base it off experts' assessments. This isn't as interesting to me. :(

(And for the record they don't run the South China Sea as much as they want to, Japan and Taiwan are both major players in the region and the US just ignores them and runs ships through there whenever they feel like it.)

The exiled First Order Troopers that Finn stumbled on were lead by a woman who was kidnapped at the kid.

Randomly near the end of the movie Lando asks where's she's from and she says she doesn't know. Then Lando says lets find out together and gives a weird smile. Apparently there's a deleted scene where Lando says his daughter was kidnapped.

Oh good, that scene was super creepy to me initially. I was like is Lando doing his player act again?

Of all the many things I don't like about TLJ, the parents being nobodies wasn't one of them. It really wasn't important to me. Sadly nothing else in TLJ was important or meaningful to the story either so we essentially watched the wheels spin for two and a half hours just so we could have ROS cram two movies worth of content into 2 hours.

It's actually very in keeping with the original classical China setting. Kissing is a Western tradition that spread to Asia in modern times. Japan itself had no tradition of romantic kissing until within the last 100 years or so.

People are talking about it on a meta level. The game itself might justify it, but the devs thought the best way to make a game about Peach was to make her overly emotional.

Maybe, but she didn't use emotions in previous games she was playable in (most notably, SMB 2/USA and Smash Melee) and she hasn't used it again in games since that. It's a gimmick confined to that one game and not a defining characteristic of her gameplay.

In general shows tend to be optimistic because people don't tend to like negative escapism. Most criminals aren't caught, people don't recover or die from diseases, accidents, etc. But shows tend to focus on positive things. No one wants to watch an incel detective dying of terminal cancer fail to catch a murderer.

I think people are ignoring the biggest hurdle here. If it works via software emulation they need to get permission from game rights holders to add it to their online store and/or make the disc work. For a number of PS1 and 2 games this isn't possible as they are stuck in legal hell. There is a reason many PS1 and 2 games never got released on game archives, yet a launch PS3 can play all of them. The hardware emulation allowed them a legal work around.
