I'm not a fan of the MMO-lite trend in general but if the gameplay is solid and I can get my monies worth out of it by myself then I'm game. I didn't care much for Destiny but The Division was pretty fun. Definitely not worth full price but I'll probably get it next black friday.

The Silmarillion is one of my favorite books and a few of the stories have been expanded from Tolkien's original notes into books the size of the Silmarillion itself. Has anyone read these? Does making them 300 pages add more to the story or are the versions in the Silmarillion pretty much complete?

I really hate the modern interpretation of him just being a terrible racist. His views on other people (including white foreigners) stems from his legitimate xenophobia. His views weren't political. He was a secluded guy that didn't really get along with anyone and was literally terrified of going outside or seeing people not like him. Actual racism was only a part of his particular neurosis and it's also one of the most important factors in his work. It's so reductionist to just say "This old dead guy was racist i don't like racists bad man"; especially when people bring up that fucking cat as their strongest supporting evidence every time. He had a lot of issues and his life sucked but we wouldn't have the stories we do without it. His views were taboo but they greatly enhanced his story telling.

I liked the other two but neither really had enough replayability to be worth $60. I'm sure I'll like Shadow just as much but I'll probably get it a year from now.

It'll be worth the 20-30 bucks I spend on it in a year. I've got too much on my backlog to even worry about it now.

I loved Dead Island even through all its jank and I was super excited they got a second chance to do it better with Dying Light. The combat is some of the best FP combat out there. I've been meaning to do another playthrough since they've added a ton of stuff since release as well as the big expansion.

I know this is fake but it still greatly upsets me every time I see it.

There's a few moments when you can see an almost great movie slip in but then it's get real dumb again. Doctor Bugman at the end was just horrible.

I haven't even seen any proper gameplay of this. All I've heard is "We have tornadoes now". After 3 I was just going to ignore it.
