Suite Photoconductivity
The Grand Finale

Dariusburst Another Chronicle - Suite Photoconductivity 7 There's a lot here I like. The more electronic stuff around the 8-10 minute mark is good. Some of the parts in the third section, like around 19-21 min is also pretty cool. I suppose this goes through all of the bosses and areas, so there's undoubtably a lot of variety already, but I find peace in listening to it as all one song, hearing the ebbs and flows as it starts off serene, builds to something intense and hectic, then calms down to light vocalization near the end.

Blue Reflection: Second Light - World's End 5.5 The quintessential nostalgic tinged music box piano here is a joy to listen to, but I didn't appreciate the demonic glitch thrown in at times. It is a heck of a combination, but it wasn't meshing well at all for me.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story - The Grand Finale 8.5 This is it. It's everything you've been preparing for. All of it has come to a head as your journey has finally come to an end. Do you have what it takes to overcome this final evil? Will you rise to the occasion or shirk away? I really love the epic end like energy that this provides.

Sonic Runners - End of the Summer 7.5 This doesnt really sound like a summer theme but it is a celebration of everything sonic. Joyous and fun.

-[PROTEASE]-
Supraspatial

Sonic Colors - Terminal Velocity (Act 1) 6.5 Sonic music lays out a funky groove full of blinding instruments. It hits you hard with the trumpets while keeping a cool baseline humming. Sure it's nice, but there's no main hook that keeps me interested.

Xenoblade Chronicles X - Wir fliegen 8.5 One of my favorite XBX tracks. The restrained starting melody of guitar and simple drums looms and waits until the blast off of the "zombie" chorus. It's like breaking off the chains and unleashing ones free self. I like the electric guitars halfway through with their deep riffs, it reminds me of new soleanna from Sonic 06, which is one of my favorite songs. Then the chorus picks up again in the second half with more frenzy and complexity. It's just a song with a great journey and fun emotions via the vocals and varied energy.

Secret of Mana (2018) - Prophecy 5.5 I enjoy how the core mystical magic motif persists throughout the song, no matter how many dire metal layers get added on top. It's a whole feast of a layered sound experience.

Risk of Rain 2: Survivors of the Void - The Face of the Deep 4 Oh is this new 2022 music from Chris? Neat stuff! I don't particularily like this song. I usually enjoy the cooler, slow burns from Risk of Rain. While the intensive, frequent chaos songs have a place, they just sound at odds with the main motifs Christodoulou likes to put in his songs. There's also some annoying dissonant saxophone/guitar stuff in this song that takes me out of the whole experience.

Drakengard 3 - The Final Song 4 It's an ok song but it's pretty boring. The bgm doesn't really go anywhere interesting besides adding some nice nature-y sounds and soft bongo? like drums. The vocals are pretty, but they fail to keep my attention with this 7 minute slog of a song.

Chibi-Robo! Let's Go, Photo! - Staff Roll 5 This song is pretty disjointed, but I enjoyed some of the tunes that were experimented with. Usually I don't really care for songs that go all over the place with little rhyme or reason, and this isn't really an exception, but I can appreciate the little snippets I hear, even if the sum isnt't greater than its parts. It sounds like the composer/mixer had fun experimenting with everything on the DAW lol.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim - -[PROTEASE]- 6.5 I like the complexity and variation in the musical ideas. It's like a echo chamber where every sound gets reflected back and builds upon the creation of the next, in a mass of music at the end.

echochrome ii - prime #4507 4 Yeah it's pretty to listen to as you zone out or do other things, but as a piece of music to concentrate on and seriously listen to, I can't say I really like it. The first two minutes and somewhere in the 55 min range had the best motifs, but the rest was just happy elevator music.

DJMAX RESPECT V - Misty Er'a 5 It almost sounded like nothing tbh. Like the vocals were deep and emotional, but without much voice in the actual instrumentation

Amplitude (PS4) - Supraspatial 7 Banger and alien. It's super in every direction.

U.N. Owen Was Her?
Gusty Garden Galaxy
Two Planets Approach the Roche Limit

Fetus of God 5.5 Deadly and cybertronic. I like the layered funky breakdown in the second half. The rest is just mind bogging grey music.

U.N. Owen Was Her? 7 This reminds me of some classical music i think? Unless I've just hear so many touhou and flandre themes now I'm reminded of those. The piercing strings add a lot of energy and tension to the song. When they combine with the vibrato of a lower instrument, dancing in and out to a constant rhythm, it's quite enthralling. I liked the song the most when it wasn't as touhou-ish.

Gusty Garden Galaxy 8.7 A galatic sized fanfare, created to capture the hearts and imaginations of every music lover. Is it the most perfect piece of music? Nah. But it handles a real sense of joy and emotion that compartamentalizes everything nintendo and mario stands for. There's a true adventure to the song. I also appreciate the slower, subdued section to give it some variety.

Rock Castle 3.5 A scattering of pieces light up the ground as starships with ominous alien sounds and heavy, towering fanfare, ravage the land. There's not much melody to grab onto with this, but maybe it sounds better in context? Nothing for me to connect to.

Shard 4.5 Invented lonlieness. A persistent but necessary despair. This track has violent intentions but they're kinda subdued, like the person hasn't totally succumbed to evil. All I get are these sort of feelings and more. There's some neat rhythm and bangerness to it, but the tension is put at the forefront.

Two Planets Approach the Roche Limit 7 Tasteful robot music. I'm surprised by how diverse Kirby music can be. Actually a lot of new switch titles are changing the standard motifs for mainstay games. Pokemon Legends of Arceus, Breath of the Wild, and now Kirby. I like how it souns like there's a beautiful orchestra piece that is struggling to hold up against a cybernetic invasion of rock and electronic. It's a weird fusion that I can appreciate for it's complexity and thematic intertwining.

Full writeups

The Lost City 8.5 Track gets cool when it picks up after the vocals. It has a air of triumph and bliss mixed with spirited adventure through a new land. The snippets of melodic phrases are also very dopamine inducing.

RVOLUTIN (Full Version) 8.5 This track is messy, loud, obnoxious and bland, but man does it hit so hard. It just has like this metal rock sound mixed with the high octane energy of a cartoon opening. I can't help but feell energized when I listen to this. The vocalist is so good at delivering a sense of magic and happiness.

The Merciless Savior 6.5 Mixed up horns plod along spreading a hectic fanfare wherever they happen to land. And then lol the track just changes to a deep and thoughtful meditation before settling on vast falcom chords. The synthy instruements in the bg in the second half are fun. I don't know whether i enjoyed the movement and journey of this song.

White Palace 7.5 First half is calming but a little boring. The second half introduces some more powerful and lush motifs in the form of the piano and grand chords that really hit. There's a sense of restraint and incomplete feelings in the tense melody that gives it a sad vibe.

Guardian of Rebirth 4.5 Too much vocals, not enough variety or melody in the actual vgm. The song has some movement that I didn't expect though. It goes harder than i expected.

Will Force 3 This is a solid track, but there's something about the soundfont or melody that just sounds very annoying to me. I can't place it but it doesn't leave a satisfying feeling when i hear it.

Ring Ring Ring!
MI09: Angel
Dance With the Shadow

Ring Ring Ring! 8 Soft and cutesy. The fluffy, cheerful sounds put me at ease while keeping on pace with a up tempo melody.

Attack of the Killer Queen 6.5 This is a pretty memorable song with a nice ostinato that screams crazy psycho. You hear the Queen's motif several times throughout the game and it's cool to see how it's integrated into this song. I don't find this song to be one of my favorites though. It has something in the key or pitch that is just off putting for me.

MI09: Angel 6.5 Messy. It had a tense, mystical godly sound to it. Like you just encountered the supreme overlord whose power is so strong it distorts the entire universe including the battle music. I prefer this track to the arceus tracks because it has some structure and form along with the weirdness.

The Creator and the Destroyer 4 Bellowing bass drums attack alongside a slew of ancient chimes as the vocals strike at you. I'm not sure whether I liked the song or not after it dropped. It had more intensity.. a little too much. I'm not much a fan of the screamo, heavy metal sound. The regular rock stuff with the solos and quick bubbling in the background was nice though.

Flow 5.5 I like this song when the melody kicks in. I wish it would evolve more, the progression seems stuck in a safe and confined way. The loop of the main melody got repetitive after a while.

Waltz in the Moonlight/Lostroom Dance With the Shadow 7 French attack? I enjoyed the pacing of the vocals, how they slowed down and sped up to reflect the energy of the bgm. It kept the song upbeat and varied, rather than the beautiful but sometimes boring pacing of other vocalists. The accordion isn't used enough as vgm instrumentation

Healthy Unicorn Girl
Wicked Child
Tachi

Healthy Unicorn Girl 7.5 There's some deadly and sinister vibes to this. some of the instruments make it sound like alien outer space or something. I also kinda like the weird prog progressions, reminding me of PSO2 but like good ahah. It's not so random that it's absolute gibberish, I can still pick apart a main melody to it.

Battle 2 7.5 Midi guitars cast out magical sounds of greatness while the drums blast a heavy downpour. There's just something succinct and energizing about this that I love. I think maybe it being a tad longer would help keep from the repetitiveness, but the overall loop is very solid.

Wicked Child 9.2 This is one of my favorite songs ever. I could listen to this for an hour and not get bored. While the loop is short, every single second has this perfection in its vibe and energy. I don't even really hvae the words to describe how I like it so much. It's just so infectious in making me groove along. The build up has this "running towards a final boss" vibe and then it hits you with the main hook. The ostinato in the main part is so cool , how it bounces along playfully but with such conviction. and some of those notes are reflected in the following sections and aaaah it's so good.

Contrattacco Emotional Overload 6.5 This has the same frenzy as something I'd hear in an intense MMO or maybe xenoblade. There are a ton of layered instruemnts all buildng and reacting off each other, it's very cool. But I think it lacks a solid hook that really brings everything together. The high harp/ringing and compressed guitars are my favorite.

Battle with the Devil 6.5 Celtic Hell is an appropriate genre. When those accordian/strings come in with full force, I can just feel the scotish or irish culture bursting forth (idk countries) I wasn't really feeling the slower sections or the prolonged vocals, but I suppose they provide a good contrast to the more busy and upbeat sections.

Tachi 7 The alternating pitches in the vocals, like clockwork are a favorite, they mezmerize my ears like a hynotist. I don't know if I really cared for the second part with its intense rock storm. It seems a bit like risk of rain tracks in that vibe, which I knoow others connect with becasue of the journey and atmosphere, but it's not my all time favorite thing. Still has a good mood that enrapturs me and brings me into this wicked world of demons and chaos.

Secret Cave 5 Pulsing action with monstrously heavy instrumentation. There's a sense of danger and tension that undercuts the whole song. Not really my thing, I think it goes too hard and doesn't let anything breathe

The Final Smile 7 The vocals of this song are very good. They sing of someone saying goodbye to all their friends, like on a final ride through the sky on a shooting star or something. I think the parts with low fi bgm are more boring though.

To The Distant Sky 5.5 A tribal heartfelt call to the yonder world. I like when the synths come in during the second half. It gives the song a more modern feel to the more pure and traditional tone.

Tenement of the Blue Spirit 6 I feel this is the sort of song I'd need to hear a bunch for it to grow on me. Because listening to the looping, slowly evolving piano is boring and a little annoying. But idk maybe if I listened to this all the time, those parts that I think are repetitive and annoying might latch on to me and become strengths. That this song could be something I take solace in. There is some beauty in it, but it's just hidden too far for me to appreciate. Lol idk why I got so meta with this.

Angel Rain 7.5 Thank you Robin for loving this song and spreading your passion of it. It starts off with a very frenchy sound ? like an accordian or saxophone. I love how the vocalist, YOU, sounds like she is up close to the mic, almost whispering the lyrics into your soul. It's very enriching, yet calming. There's a certain tenderness about it. The part where the little rustling comes in at 1:20 is my favorite part. When the vocals take a break for the dnb to pick up in the second part, it's a little too strange a switch at first. The pulse pounding tone is a stark shift from the calming track up until that point, but it quickly settles into a nice groove. It's a really radical change but I dig it.

Magus Confronted 3.5 The pitch of the instrumentation is idk, too strong and dissonant for me. It just comes on very bluntly and lacks poise and nuance. I mean it's not a bad song, it's just without any ease in to the raw sounds. The distant sound of a wailing goat is also funny but not really.

Daredevil
Field (Late Night)
Mixed Melody (Stage 4)

good day considering my usually low scores

Touhou 4: Lotus Land Story - Alice Maestra 7 Idk touhou music is weird for me. Like it really is a bop. But because there's so many touhou games and songs, and since they all share a similar soundfont and frantic energy level, they start to sound all the same vibe.. And idk then they lose individuality. Anyway I liked the bright striking notes that led the melody

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown - Daredevil 8 The faint quick high notes that carry the enthusiasm of the song, plus the tense epic horns solidify this as good. It's a epic and deeply moving track that makes me feel like ascending to the sky surrounded by stars and feathers. Or maybe climbing a mountain. putting one hand in front of the other.

Xenogears - The Wind Calls to Shevat in the Blue Sky 6 the high notes that loop over and over are strangely vibrant and dynamic. I suppose the other instrumentation layered over it distracts me from it sounding too repetitive. It's a serene track, but it doesn't fit the sound i like.

Pokmon Legends: Arceus - Field (Late Night) 7.5 Man arceus ost really doesn't sound like traditional pokemon. This sounds like something i'd hear out of a killer7 or maybe metroid game. It's so spooky and futuristic sounding.. but it has traditional instrumentation at the same time? I liked the melody section at 1:21. It was really smooth and washed over me in a calm breeze.

GITADORA HIGH-VOLTAGE - LUCID NIGHTMARE 6 Lol the first bit of the song sounds like the ready music of a mario kart game. This is like one of sergio's favorite songs isn't it? I don't really hear much that hypes me up. I guess it's a rock jazz fusion,, it has some mellow progressions that are amped up by the guitar, but the different instruemental elements just collide with each other in a unpleasant and obnoxious way.

DoDonPachi Blissful Death Black Label Extra - Mixed Melody (Stage 4) 8 There's like one part of this track I like and it's when the original melody starts to build and grow. and evolves into this mezmerizing beat that weaves its way through the background of the song. The drumming is ok but it's a little too pronounced and in your face for me to appreciate it. It's mostly the electronic pulsating ? sound in the background that gains my approval. Well the final rock solo in the end is also very good, I wish that had popped up halfway thru too.

Heart of Concrete
Chani's Eyes
Aquatic Ambiance

some short songs today.
Precipitous Combat 6 I like the push and pull this track has. It really sounds like a war of epic proportions is being waged right in the constrasting melodies.

Heart of Concrete 8.6 Faved. Wow the main rock loop of this track is so good. It has a enthusiastic and thrilling sound that is just very solid and upbeat. That base with the illuminating neon sounds for texture make this a very strong contender, even if the loop is a bit short.

Hoist the Sword With Pride in the Heart 7 This one caught my ear? when i first heard it in noms. It starts off really strong with another batallion of smooth yet striking rock motifs, but loses its grip about halfway through. The B section just lost most of the energy and enthusiasm that I liked.

Chani's Eyes 8 To be honest, I really only like the main motif. Its slow yet deliberate melody with a slight reverb was so smooth and pleasing to hear. The rhythm (of the motif) also had a good use of pauses, which is hard to do in vgm I think, as music always seems to be about bombarding with constant noise. The other wobbly, ambient sounds werent really my favorite, but they helped immensely with the mood of a far away ancient alcove in a dusty ruined desert temple.

Aquatic Ambiance 6.5 Eh. To be honest I like stickerbush symphony or forest interlude out of the legendary 3 tracks from the dkc series. From dkc1 itself there are many other tracks I personally prefer over this: bonus room blitz, funkys fugue, the credits concierto. I'm not trying to say I hate Aquatic Ambience, it just doesn't seem to hit the same perfection as it does for others. The mellow saxophone against the low energy drums and occasional twinkles are the sections that stand out the most for me. The track functions well as a nice ambient piece, but it lacks a sound or melody that really makes me invested in it. I just can't feel fully invested, idk.

Frantic Aspic 3.5 Tuning down the randomness of this track by about 50% and adding some constant drums and something to hold onto as home base would help. I don't mind funky samples and weird syncopations, but when that's like all the track is, it just loses a sense of rhythm that I very much covet.

parvorbital
Indignant Divinity
Time

Remember Me 7 Quite nice and soothing when you let the sound wash over you. It's a subdued retro 80s synth sound. Not quite in your face but like your warm nostalgic memory of how the genre sounded.

parvorbital 7 Hehe I'm just imagining trying to play this for whatever rhythm game this is. And going super crazy with the controls keeping up with the drums and beat. I'd probably look like a maniac. Anyway, it's an infectious sound even there is no typical sense of rhythm and melody.

The Durandal 2.5 Something with all the parts acting together was off rhythm and dissonant. And not in a fun way. I don't even know how to describe these instruments, but like the deep drums would hit at these random beats to emphasize a moment but would just take me out of the song. The clicking percussion that pressed throughout the song, yet still not 100% constant, was annoying. Then there'd be these huge whooshes of ambience that come out of nowhere and mess up the song like a bomb going off. I suppose if I don't scrutinize over all the elements, there are some elements of a calming song. Unfortunately I can't space myself out enough and those parts detract from the experience.

Indignant Divinity 8 This is a goated ost. I love when the main section launches forth with great pep and ambition after a solid buildup. It's so full of life and zest. I wish the loop section were longer, but this is a pretty small game so it's fine.

Time 4 Lol the vocals of this remind me of that other song Time Moves Slow. Anyway this definitely sounds like something I'd hear in non vgm radio. It's a slow, smokey dramatic jazz/lofi sound. I thought the vocals ended up being too repetitive and sparce for me to enjoy. I started to grow bored after the first 2 minutes. A longer B section that had greater divergence from the main melody would have helped.

Sanctuary RI 3 I can't tell if this main bouncy boop loop motif is fun or annoying. I think i like the sound of it, but it repeats on such a short loop after 4 minutes it becomes tiring. To its credit, there are some interesting side instruments like a gong, tambourine/jingle bells and maybe a mandolin or some other asian instrument that add some nice variety and texture.

Another Winter
Mor Ardain ~ Roaming the Wastes
CMYK (FM Arrange ver.)

Neko Nabe 2.5 This is pretty annoying. I kinda hate the screams and random growling. There's one part I like around the :35 section where the synths do this cool progression. I think there's a fairly solid vgm foundation I like but the neko nya vocals and random samples really make it hard for me to enjoy this.

Another Winter 9 One of my favs. I just love how the guitars in the beginning repeat and build off each other in a blast of intensity and coolness. They come back again around the 1 minute part for a celebrational climax before smoothly looping to the beginning. The anamanaguchi weird sounds throughout also add a lot of pep and personality that make the whole thing fun and cute.

Tunnel Vision (HIROSHI WATANABE Remix) 5 Easy to zone out to this one. I don't find anything distinctive that stands out to really grab my interest. I guess the parts where it's just one solo instrument are nice respites.

Mor Ardain ~ Roaming the Wastes 6.5 Classic XC2 track. I like how the higher horns will climb in intensity and then be swiftly resolved as the track moves into the next section. There's a nice smooth flow between the varied parts. The brief piano solo is also bright and one of my favorite parts.

Blue Orb 6 A storm of odd noises and whispered vocals overlay on a glitched matrix track. I like the big releases that the low piano synths interject occasionally. It gives the song a good sense of weight and grounding. I don't hate the irregular rhythm and noisecore of this song like others in the genre.

CMYK (FM Arrange ver.) 7 Oh yeah I remember the melody and mood of these nominations being pretty unique. There's a sense of quiet established ritual and folklore that the echo-y woodwinds provide. It's cool how this track seems to go nowhere and everywhere at the same time. Like there's no real structure it just projects out into the abyss how it pleases.

City Trial ~ City
Twilight of the Gods
In Hell We Live, Lament

Kirby Air Ride - City Trial ~ City 5.5 It's an ok kirby track yeah, but i prefer the more hype battle anime tracks from Air Ride. There's a nice sense of fanfare and regality to the horns.

The 9th Annual Vanilla Level Design Contest - Abstract Map 4 Oh haha I was just listening to this yesterday. It's got a very unique sound to it but idk the vocals and menacing background pianos make me feel weirdly nostalgic and stressed out. Like it reminds me of Stressed out by 21 pilots in terms of the weird emotions i feel when listening to it.

Pokmon Legends: Arceus - Battle! (Arceus) ~ Phase 4 3 Oh it's one of those noisecore tracks.. I mean it gets me all fired up in a sinister, oh shoot whats coming now, sort of way, i guess.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia - Twilight of the Gods 6.5 Usually I don't favor the orchestra like sound fire emblem tracks have, but this one had some bright and royal sounding instrumentation paired with the battle cries. The hectic piano in the beginning was appreciated too.

Kaze no Notam - Nature 4.5 I swear everyone seems to this this ost is the best thing ever. I appreciate the vibes but i know the ambient osts arent my thing. And this song has the added bonus of like, constantly channging the flow and melody? It keeps things fresh but the weird shifts are too big for me to appreciate. The whoomp echoey sounds coupled with the robotic alien like sounds are cool i guess.

Limbus Company - In Hell We Live, Lament 7 Myth and roid is appreciated.

Mars
Combat Beneath the Waves
A CYBER'S WORLD?

Mars 6.5 The drums and bass remind me of a mix between a steam engine train and a tribal jamacian drum set, the way it keeps pushing the pace forward, while keeping an air of funk. The random guitar riffs (xenoblade style) were cool to hear. I feel this track overall just has a presence of joy and fun.

FEHLT (DEEMO edition) 5 Deemo music! I usually like the calmer, piano oriented deemo tracks. It's odd to hear the piano transformed into a flurry of notes as an accompany to the faster rock and drums. the vocals made me think of nier music. I liked the break between vocals where all the instruments just raided the scene and added some controlled chaos. Overall I think all the elements are cool, but don't work well together.

Move Me 3 The only part of this I really like is the r4 motif just because i've heard it so often in other songs. The rock is ok but it pretty much stays at the same pace and intensity the whole way through so it comes off as very samey. There are some side instruments that get peppered in here and there, but the song doesn't stray as much as I'd like it to.

Combat Beneath the Waves 8 I remember kind of liking this back when I heard it during noms. The contrast in the crying violins and the fast paced backing was unique. The violin continues to evolve and have a really interesting story to tell through the melody in the second part (1:40ish). Usually violins have somewhat the same roles and sound in a lot of vgm, so for me to take special note of it in this song was pretty cool. So that and the layering of the different parts made this track good.

Ethnic Cave & Flame 2.5 This track is going up against cybers world , kinda a favorite of mine, so i gave it a couple listen throughs for more of a fair chance. sorry,, i dont like it. Theres some small jazzy bits that puncture the background occasionally that are really nice. I wish they came to the foreground of the song more. The drum parts aren't too bad either, but again they're pushed mostly to the back. As for the main repeating motif is bland and one dimensional to me. It doesn't really match the rest of the song either. This aspect feels at its worst when all the sections play at once in an incoherent mess. I guess if the intent was to create confusion and dissonance it works.

A CYBER'S WORLD? 8.8 I really love how this song plays the single channel with the motif before launching into the full concert version. The B part at 1:05 is super jamming and I like how abrupt the change is, with the pseudo vocals taking front stage. At the same time, I love how as the section progresses, the other instruments gradually chime in for a smooth transition to the final section. There's just a great flow throughout the song. there's so many surprising elements that catch your attention, but the main motif and beat keep the whole track unified with a consistent theme.

The Spirit of the Mountain
Sky of Twilight
MAD LAST WORLD

Silent Desert 5 A simple rock track at its core. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing really stood out. I just wish there was a big climax or something with more punch and impact. It reminds me of a modern day castlevania feel.

The Spirit of the Mountain 6 The main section of the song with its looped repeating sound was lame. It was a nice sound i guess, I just didn't care to have that be the main focus. The second part at like 3:30 was more my speed. It had these highs and lows to the sound of something with intrigue and allure.

Panditah of the 7th Mountain 3 This is like when you enter a holy ancient temple and come across a giant door with hieroglyphics that you have to decipher to open. Not really my style, but it set a great holy old tone.

Sky of Twilight 5.5 The underlying rock bgm was cool. I'm not such a fan of the vocals. The weird shift of the key or the melodic statements was also unique, but not enjoyable to listen to. The song felt like it was constantly shifting gears. The build up to the final high guitar solo riffs at the end was pretty killer.

Morning Bell 6.5 This sounds like a very familiar heartfelt tune. Like I mean I listened to this during noms, but something else about the progression tickles my mind. It sounds like the credits to a pixar movie. I paid attention mostly to the high violin in the forefront, but the swelling of the background instruments were pivotal to the mood just as much.

MAD LAST WORLD 7 I mean it's a pretty banger track, but something about saxophones or those horns ? makes me like it less. It sounds more like something from an rpg like octopath or trails in the sky.

Illusionary Blue Flowers
Home Sweet Home
City of Tears

Illusionary Blue Flowers 8 added to faves. Actually a really beautiful and uplifting track. the chords are just so beautiful and warm and sunny. The little beeping/tapping sound in the background was annoying though. I also wish it had some more variety as it was pretty repetitive.

The Best Is Yet To Come 7.5 This song makes me kinda want to cry i dunno why. I don't even really like it that much. I guess my heart feels differently. The last minute was good in a tribal, worldly way.

Burning Hearts (Burning ANGEL) 6.5 The nostalgic 90s style anime opening seeps through with this one. Both the main hook and the verses of the vocals are nice, but the actual jazz instrumentation sounds out of place. It's also too cheesy lol.

Home Sweet Home 7 Focusing on the melodic path of the piano made it wholesome and carefree while also retaining a sense of beauty. I don't know if i liked the other instruments as much but they added some nice backdrops.

City of Tears 5.5 The violin in this is so emotionally charged and morose. Not much to say on the rest of the instrumentation.. i guess it's fine

stg_travel_2_3 3.5 Sounded like a megaman or 30xx track. But there really wasnt anything interesting here. I guess i like the part at :50 but that's about it. It stayed at the same intensity and energy like the whole way through.

Highland Fields: Grass Ruins
DESIRE

Caravan Stories Bunwaii Desert 4 romp thru the dungeon. funky percussion fills.

Tower Unite Accelerate ~ Night City (My Alien Girlfriend) 6 These vocals make this sound like something i'd hear in non vgm music. It's so bold and forthright. Anyway the parts that repeat and stutter are pretty cool, but the general vibe is kinda weird. There are some good standout parts like the last minute's strong vocal change.

Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky Colony Collapse Disorder 3 wasn't expecting this song to have such a killer guitar solo. The rest of the chanting like sounds and tribal like mood is annoying

Ketzal's Corridors 4 Highland Fields: Grass Ruins There's a good melody underneath it all. The deep funky ocean sounds arent my vibe though.

Cleopatra's Fortune DESIRE 7 Wow now this is unique. The high pitched repeating fanfare along with the pure swag of the stylish soundfont make this funky and cool. I wanna start disco dancing or dress up in some strange colored 70s clothes to this tune.

NieR 6.5 The Wretched Automatons Actually quite beautiful. I thought the mechanical striking sounds would wear on me, but they hit in a rather rhytmically beautiful way. I feel like im marching in line towards a royal and gothic castle filled with weeping demons.

Routing
Bamboo Boogaloo (Past)
Radical Dreamers

Incredible day today.

Risk of Rain Coalescence 5 Chris Christodoulou music isn't necessarily my favorite but i can see why people really enjoy it. The songs are too mellow and drawn out for my interests, but for people that enjoy those things, chrisx2 is your guy. I sorta enjoy how the main motif grows to new levels with each repetition. It's like I'm melding into the soup of sounds. On the other hand, it's the same melody over and over, so it can get a bit boring to listen to

beatmania IIDX 23 copula Routing 6 Love all the funky samples and dj scratching sounds this one incorporates. Though it gets a little too wild, it's a blast to listen to.

The Messenger Bamboo Boogaloo (Past) 8.5 One of my favorites. This soundfont is so infectious. The ninja rush of the melody building on top of itself in these choppy energetic waves is really cool. The second part with its lower bass like sounds also has some intracate progressions i enjoy.

Risk of Rain 2 The Rain Formerly Known as Purple 6 This one is a full on feast for Chris Christodoulou lovers. It is a complete expidition, starting with a simple beat and gradually adding more instruments and sounds in such a smooth and effortless way that you can't help but feel engrossed in its charm. I really enjoy the little knocks and beeps thrown in from time to time. I enjoy the guitar riffs in this one and the sweltering riffs that start at the 4:50 mark. They help to not make the track sound too samey and give it a greater depth and epicness.

Pokmon Ruby/Sapphire Route 113 7 This is a pretty cool track. I like the mystery and intrigue the melody leaks. It gives a nice floaty dreamy soundscape that contrasts well with the occasional punctuated horns.

Chrono Cross Radical Dreamers 8 This miiight be my favorite Chrono Cross song, or at least in my top 3. The guitars give a reflective and sorrowful intro to the weighty emotion in the light vocals. There's a delicate balance in the pitch of the vocals and the notes of the guitars. And a sort of dance where the bgm will hit notes in the pauses of the vocals. I don't really care for the last minute where it's just a lot of harmonzing, but otherwise it's just a beautiful and heartfelt track.

To a New Journey
xxxx/xx/xx (Remix)
ICO -You were there-

Thran Asteroid Qwark's Hideout 5.5 I don't find ratchet and clank music to be anything spectacular. This has a catchy beat and the bass laid on top of it builds in a pleasing way, so i'm pleasantly surprised. This still sounds too tame though.

To a New Journey 6.5 I was feeling kinda meh for the first part, but the second half picks up some iconic Wild Arms motifs and its western grand instrumentation fills me with exuberance.

Sky Tower 7 I'm not sure if I prefer the original or this version. A lot of people cite PMD and this song as some of the best vgm ever. . It's nice, but it doesnt personally appeal to me as the best thing. I do like how this song starts out quiet and basic and loops until it builds to something regal and foreboding, yet decisive.

xxxx/xx/xx (Remix) 8 faved. Idk if it's just I fall in love with vocal tracks or the recent ones have been really good. Anyway I love the mix of genres of jpop and dubstep. It's very cool when the vocals speed up, like a boost of energy.

Proof of the existence 4.5 Fast and hard. I mean it's cool i guess but going 100% makes it sound all the same intensity, which is boring. Where's the contrast? Where's the journey?

ICO You were there 6.5 Love the quiet yet strong conviction this track has. The sharp and somewhat off rhytym drum hits are also really cool. Overall i like the atmosphere and journey this song makes.

LAST CALL
Jupiter Guns Novel (Long Version)
GATE OF STEINER

Hollows (Echocave) 7.5 I listened to this soundtrack recently. It was megaman ish and quite techno peppy. While the ost and this song don't quite reach the point of banger, this has a lot of charm in its melody and rhythm. The sycopation is pretty funky and the notes echo that playfullness.

LAST CALL 8.8 There's some wonderful underlying rock guitar here. I really like the quick bubbly sounds as they add a sense of urgency and determination. That jutxaposes with the relatively harmonic progression and stretched out vocals. This song is at its best when the vocals climax with the guitar at the down beat of a new drum beat. Just an inspiring driving feel good song.

Sleeping in the Cold Below 3 The hook of this song is good when everyone harmonizes. Otherwise it's kinda a weird country shanty song that feels grimey and off balance.

Jupiter Guns Novel (Long Version) 6 Fun, complex layered rock but it's pretty anxiety inducing. The calmer, beach like presence halfway through was a good change.

Under Pressure 3 An old alien rave gets invaded by some amped uped diamond robot droids. The clash between the primitive race and the unstoppable cold future is bloody and stark.

GATE OF STEINER 7.5 I've only seen the first season, but I know this song quite well. The anime is one of my favorites as well and it has quite the selection of banger songs. My favorite parts are the quiet brooding, sciency sections of avenging piano notes and the guitar solo that comes outta with a frenzy of madness. Eri Sasaki's voice is a mix of sweet peace and unforgiving justice.

Heretic Frypan
THE CHASE ~Chase~ (Special Edition)
Shudder

Library of Ruina - Angela 6 This song with its violins wasn't bad by any means but it didn't really pique my interest beyond, oh that's kinda cool. The dubstep like electronic backing helped.

Eastward - Heretic Frypan 7 Eastward is kinda a fun soundtrack. I vibe with the general soundfont, but very few songs really resonate with me. This one had a good midsection with some push and tenacity. It felt like a futuristic city tune

Uncharted Waters: New Horizons - THE CHASE ~Chase~ (Special Edition) 5 I like the woodwind instruments that give this a hopeful wild west like feeling. The improved drums and jazzy sound to it is vibrant and electric, but it's not really my style.

Guacamelee! - Desierto Caliente 3.5 The repeating trumpets and mexican like vocals are really annoying for me sorry. The general soundfont this song (and I assume the rest of guacamelee) is pretty unique though, we need more mexican video game music. The clapping that blends into the drum beats was probably my favorite.

shatter - Argon Refinery 5 I don't know why this ost has a higher dislike ratio than usual VGM. Do people really hate this music or is it some other phenomenon I'm not seeing. The songs I've heard from here have been generally ok.I don't particularily like this track though: the longness, the drawn out legato slow sections and the somewhat obnoxious soundfont, and the overly stagnant, repetitive melody. But honestly it's not too bad. It has a fun funky futuristic vibe that catches you right at the start. And for some, the obnoxiousness can be interpreted as bold and strong sounds. Also the last part (starting 6:20 ish) reminds me of some pop song i've heard before.

Einhnder - Shudder 6.5 Banger, this is in my favorites. I think it's mostly due to the killer rap, it really reminds me of something I'd hear in jet set radio, specifically miller ball breakers. The rest of the track has this 80s Japanese shmup energy that's pretty cool too.

Seashore War
Sogno di Volare
Into the Woods!

Storm of Fine Weather 4.5 main instrumentation was repetitive. it had a cool tech metallic sound about it. Like more shmup feels.

Seashore War 7.5 Beautiful and meloncholic song. Not my favorite song but the tropical freeze ost is one of my favorites. I love when the vocals come it to give it that extra oomph. It really adds weight to this impactful song. I like the journey this song takes you on as well, going from something simple to deep, back to simple again.

Nocturne 6 Song probably isn't something i'd seek out to listen to, but if it played in the background I would enjoy it a lot. Feel like I'm slipping into a trance with this song. It's a nice mix of hypnotic and freeform drum improvization. The part at 6min was too hectic for me but I can see some people liking it. I'm glad it was short enough so we could go into the lofi light cymbal hitting, that was nice easy listening.

Sogno di Volare 8.5 This song made me realize just how awesome grand orchestra music can be. Also that I really need to listen to more civ music if it's anywhere close to this calibur. This song made my favorites list when i first listened to it in nominations. I really like the main "una volta" line. Just the deep pounding of the drums in sych with the harmonizing of the foreign vocals gives me a sense of longing for triumph, redemption and new beginnings.

Into the Woods! 7 Hi sergio cornaga core :) I think the first time he introduced this song to me, personally, I found it a bit weird but somewhat interesting. I won't pretend like I'm madly in love with this now, but I find the hard hitting parts that strike you seemingly out of nowhere and lack a cohesive rhythm are actually pretty fun and unique. It doesn't fit into the monotony of a regular 4/4 time signature (i'd assume) and have a sense of anticipation and surprise.

LIN NE KRO NE 4 A sad computer program cries out in the form of corruption and errors. The samples and break glitchcore in this give it some interesting texture, but it's weird in the sense the glitch sounds are irritating while the vocals are boring and generic. I don't hate the song, it just doesn't mix well for me.

Calling
Interwoven Stories
Revenge

Calling 7 This song is like the definition of cool. I liked the background synth notes that remind me of the 80s. I wish there were more breakdowns or interesting lyrics, it kind of became bland and repetitive.

Practice Makes Perfect 5.5 I really enjoy the beat this song has. The rap verses also flow like butter. I'm not a fan of the main practice makes perfect chorus though, it just sounds like jazzy gospel, which seems out of place here.

Interwoven Stories 8 T-Todd Baker?? This song was already on my favorites list as I discovered Monument Valley 2 before VGMC. It's a beautiful soundtrack. I liked how the notes repeated and echoed into the abyss. I like how the bass and echoey notes trade off each other, like an intracate dance. Makes me think of a rhythmic pulse of raindrops in a underwater cave. My only complaint is it repeated the same melody for most of the song, i would have appreciated a shorter loop or more interesting variation.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni 4 Mega anime alert. It sounds cool when all the instruments synchronize together with the vocals in big bursts. There's not much else I like about the song, personally.

SaKuRa 5 A marriage between traditional japanese woodwinds and a funky club singer. The japanese voice is pretty but the rest of the song is just average to me.

Revenge 7 Everhood music is pretty solid. The metal guitar breakdowns get me pumped up and ready for battle. The second half of the track is interesting, it being slower and more "epic". It breaks up the monotony and cranks up on the intensity scale, but it also kinda breaks the flow. It improves the song overall i think.

Deus Hex Machina
Sea of Frozen Crystals
Halo

THEMEX 7.5 Iconic theme and something that hypes me up. Idk if it's that i've heard this enough times or some other melody, but it's very familiar, like it's from another song or anime. I love the fanfare and "rising up to the challenge" vibe it gives.

Deus Hex Machina 8 Love the punk mechanical theme this is going for. It's a mix of industrial rock and hype metal. The texture noise sounds are actually interesting rather than being too grating for me.

Swap Out (Regret) 6 This sounds like something I'd hear on the pop station in Japan or Korea lol. It's catchy and has a good beat, but it's a little empty under the surface. I think there could be more to the actual music part. THere were a couple of nice drops and fun key changes? that i liked.

Sea of Frozen Crystals 6 Reminded me of mario kart music or something peppy like that. It's not really my favorite type of sound or genre, but there were some unique moments I can see myself growing on

Halo 7 Just a solid, iconic piece of music. The vocalizing and deep drum hits give it a fierce dynamic yet ambient sense that's hard to pull yourself away from

Bi (veeeeeeeever) 4 Mostly annoying and repetitive. I mean there's some enjoyment to be had, but there's not much to this track. Idk if this was a big meme nomination but it's not for me, at least on 1st/2nd listen

Staff Roll
Terra
Egg Reverie ~ Extra Boss Theme

the normie choices i'm afraid

Different World 1 6 Huh, this song was already on my favorites list. Maybe sergio or UF8 or someone else from VGMC recommended it to me. Or i liked it during the noms period. Theres a fine balance between 3 distinct sections, the middle and high note floaty melody, the funky loose bass, and the persistent droning of the dune background which sets the deserty endless vibe. It's a neat song, but nothing spectacular about it, other than its calm vibrant atmosphere.

Staff Roll 7 Man I don't listen to the classics enough. This saunters into your heart with a triumphant yet sad nostalgia. The dire dock motifs and low piano really bring out the deepness.

Terra 8 Probably my favorite FF6 song. I love how the flutes pierce the air in a grim yet determined way, while the lower repeating notes bounce along with hopeful energy. There are some parts in the middle section that get a bit boring, but nonetheless this is a powerful song.

Mighty Magma Red [Stage 5] 6 This reminds me of classic arcade 80s music like afterburner 2 or like the x men original theme. The main chorus is quite catchy, but i think it' lacks a big enough drop to get me really hyped.

I've been liking 46 ri9 the more times i listen to it, but it's still below the banger egg reverie

bumping egg reverie up to 8
bumping 46-:ri9 up to a 6

.. If anyone was still looking forward to my write ups from day 10, here they are:

Mimic 4.5 It's rock music. You'd think i'd be really into this, but when it's justs guitars blaring out non stop without a proper flow or musical journey, it all sounds bland and samey. There's also an issue of rock going too hard lol. The scream theme was probably the most interesting, even if it got super off kilter with the key and dissonance.

Aerolith Aurorablast (HAGANE Remix) 6.5 This song's first minute starts out pretty strong but it fades and loses some of its shine after that. There's still some interesting ideas I enjoy, but it wasn't consistent throughout the song. I just wish it had introduced wildly different instrumentation or tonal shifts to break up the monotony. The erratic pitter patter of the percussion coupled with the softer floaty piano was nice though. The main electronic synth section was fun, but it didn't blow me away.

Nuedori 7.5 This song has started to grow on me the more I listen to it. I think it has to do with the flow and speed of the vocals, how they slow down, speed up, get quieter or louder with the bgm to really hit the message hard. This has a sort of middle eastern vibe, which i'd usually detest,, but maybe the japanese vocals smooth and round it out to a full, hectic and uplifting track.

(PHENYLALANINE) 6 Spindley spiders weave and dance upon a jolting web of bass chords and electric strings. Everyone likes 13 sentinels music, that's cool. It has an interesting voice about it, but it doesn't ignite anything deep inside of me. The somewhat irregular bass of the song is probably my favorite. The last minute where a lush web of noises blend together in a hum of mechanics and strings is also pretty good.

Supper Woods
Snow in Summer
I'm Back (to Rise!)

Chicory: A Colorful Tale Supper Woods 7 Oh shoot, this was done by Lena Raine? It felt quite bouncy and whimsical. I liked how all the sounds wove together into a beautiful and alluring piece.

Road 96 The Road 6 Wait the main hook of this song is actually really good. It reminds me of some homey pop country song like old town roads. Fudge.. i don't like this match, both these songs are solid. I guess. . The rest of the song sounds subpar compared to the cheery warm chorus.

Panzer Dragoon Saga Atolm Dragon 3.5 This has a strong otherworldly song, which I bet everyone will like, but like that glittering city whatever song, I don't care for the sound much. I like how the song crescendoed overtime until it reached a big climax at the end. Otherwise, it was pretty stagnant and boring.

NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... Snow in Summer 5 Like with many other nier songs, this was mostly vocalizing with sweeping grandiose orchestra rising and falling. There was a faint beeping sound in the background I found annoying, but otherwise this was fine?

Airport CEO JFK Cadence 7 A complex maze of marbles bouncing in perfect synchronicity spirals outward to invite everything in its calming and curious fun factory. It bulges to a peak before settling with meloncholic horns. This song was a contemplative and great journey.

Killer Instinct (2013) I'm Back (to Rise!) 9 The music I like the most is something that pumps me up, no matter what I'm feeling; it makes me bob my head and jam out. I don't typically consider myself like a rap fan, but this song has a perfect combination of rap, rock and hip hop. The flow is simply immaculate. It goes from verse to verse to chorus back to verse without missing a beat. Even the quieter parts halfway hit hard as they provide a nice moment of solace and holy reflection coupled with a nice piano melody. I really like this song.

I Can See Into Forever
Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke
Pragmatism -Resurrection-

tough match as there weren't really any songs here i fell in love with. sorry!

I Can See Into Forever 6.5 The bitcrushed beats in the background were my favorite part, i wish those were mixed more in the focus than the vocals. Still, I enjoyed the contrast of the heavier BGM against the softer, emotional lyrics. When the vocals harmonized, i felt something swell within me.

Vertex (Stage 1) 5 Dodonpachi has some good music. I like flotage a lot more to be honest. I wish that had got into the contest. The soundfont of this is both mechanical and airy at the same time. The echoey notes around :33 are my favorite. This had a neat progression but lacked a strong enough climax for me.

Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke 5.5 Ah the meme song. I'm not sure how I feel about touhou music. Part of me wants to reject it, but at the same time, some tunes are very catchy and i can't help but jam along. I enjoyed the middle part of this song (1:20ish) where several instruments built on top of each other in a increasing crescendo of complexity and brilliance. Unfortunately this song doesn't go hard enough for me to really enjoy it.

Gahreesen Corridors 3 This song has a memorable intro for sure. Like a child taking a long rod and swinging it across rows of metal bells in a dissonant yet striking cacophany. I can see how some find enjoyment in this song, and there is something special here, it's both peaceful and tense. But i find it too grating and obnoxious to properly enjoy.

PowerOne 5.5 Timber! The song of trees cracking and breaking. It's such an odd sound that it took me out of experiencing the rest of the song. The second part where the bass picked up was very good, however. It had a regal and determined energy about it.

Pragmatism Resurrection 6 A dance of Hellfire and bullets rain down on a magical girl, deftly avoiding them all and firing back with her own weaponry, a stone cold expression on her face. It descends into Error.exe glitch territory , with blacks and purples spreading across the screen before launching up into the pure stratos once again.

Mystic Pendulum
Egg Reverie ~ Extra Boss Theme
Scroll Stage

Mystic Pendulum 5.5 Imagine solemnly singing out to the crying sky as doom and destruction rains down around you,, like giant meteors or mgs mechas. Japanese vocals are nice to listen to. I'm not sure if I like the faint piano and bubbly popping sounds in the background. I think this song started to wear out after i heard the chorus for the 3rd time, it could stand to be a bit shorter.

Necessary Discrepancy 3.5 Guilty gear belts out a passionate performance of something a bit indecipherable. I don't really like this song. It sounds like scattered sounds put together for the sake of it. It lacks a strong enough harmonic base for me. It's always the most grandiose, complex songs that vgmc likes.. which is fine, but it's not for me. The guitar riffs followed by the slower soulful vocals around the 2:20 mark was my favorite part.

Egg Reverie ~ Extra Boss Theme 7.5 Prog rock with a plethora of intense guitar solos and catchy piano riffs make this a really upbeat and solid tune

46:ri9 4 I appreciated the use of silence and how the song contrasted the calmer parts against the intense climatic parts. Xenoblade music is generally good at that. Otherwise, I didn't really care for this song. Besides the mechanical noises thrown in here and there, this sounded pretty generic to me.

The Elephant's Foot of Obnoxious Music
Southern Twilight ~ Dance on the Cape of Good Hope

The Blue Reverberation 6.5 Like a battle raging on, or a storm of whipping water and rain, this track pelts you with intense percussion and epic strings. I thought it was a pretty cool song to listen to, but there wasn't really anything unique about it,, it sounded like generic orchestra to me.

memoryfactory.lzh 8 I love the retro phone out of order sound thrown in. Overall this song is really funky and special. The stuttering isn't my favorite but it really gives it personality. I also thought the song had good flow, sorta like a electronically mixed rap battle or something. Some of it was too overwhelming mixing wise but it was pretty banger nonetheless

Passing through the Forest 4 This sounds like a cross between a bustling marketplace and a lively forest. The mechanical sounds thrown in were pretty cool but this song didn't spark anything in me.

The Elephant's Foot of Obnoxious Music 6 Another crazy unique song. The mid break in the song with those funny lyrics is what i live for, it's spectacular. I like please perform an 8 from this ost more, but this definitely had movement and weirdcore energy. Whatever that means.... .The oohs and ahhs samples were displeasing for me tbh.

Yggdrasil 3 I'll be honest PSO music never appealed to me. sorry NFUN. I tend to like songs that have a consistent beat and rock guitars or upbeat melodies with strong tension and release.. and this, while full of life, didn't have anything sound wise that appealed to me. Maybe another of the comments will explain why this song is so good.

Southern Twilight ~ Dance on the Cape of Good Hope 6 I can imagine myself sitting in a dimly lit club listening to a band play this while some cabaret dancers strut around a stage. The second part of the song (4:30) makes me think of a mexican locomotive train, huffing and puffing, it's pistons beating up and down, slowly at first but gaining speed until it all bursts out at an explosive pace. the last part (6:40) makes me think of an acrobat leaping from vine to vine in a dense lush jungle as a wave of lave or something crashes forth giving chase. I loved how this song transformed over time. The low sax followed by the same segment an octave up in the beginning was so good too.

Combat -Destiny-
It's Dangerous to Go Alone
Scroll Stage

Triangle Strategy - Combat -Destiny- 7 Oddly triumphant if not kinda generic. The quick piano bring this up a few notches on the epic scale. It reminded me of a frantic dance or chase or perhaps a battle against a giant weaponized mech boss

pop'n music 10 - Atlantic Spotted Dolphin 6 A fun and breezy soundfont. I like the cheery and authentic vibes this brings. It makes me feel like I'm in a bustling european town by the waves.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII - The Glittering City of Yusnaan 3 The pounding drums and like.? arabic sounding vocals give this a unique cultural vibe. I don't really connect with the worldly music much in general. The occasional guitar riffs are cool i suppose. But neither the overall rhythmic progression nor the old middle eastern instrumentation appeals to me.

Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?! - It's Dangerous to Go Alone 9 One of my favorite songs ever. I fell in love with this after learning about it from last year's VGMC i believe. I just love the vocals. They're so uplifting and harmonize so well. The rhythm and bass in the background compliment it perfectly. The tension and release of this piece are also superb. This is done with the long Baaaahs holding and the next verses providing release with occasional pauses in the middle for additional tension. Even though it has quite a lot of repetitiveness, there is enough variation in the melody and parts that I could listen to this over and over without getting sick of it.

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (GBC) - Scroll Stage 9 I never expected an old GB color game to have such banger music. The old game boy/color sound chip is a real diamond in the rough. It gets passed up a lot I think for the newer technology but this era captured something truly special. The way it used such bizarre sounds and boops to capture the bass and main chords is dear to my heart. There's something the song does around :28 that is so cool and can probably be described by music theory nerds,,, but whatever it is, it's so pleasing to hear.

Mad Rat Dead - Emmental Catalepsy 6.5 Wait what! I didn't know Mad rat dead music could sound this peaceful! This sounds more like something I'd hear from trails in the sky or some falcom ost. hahah. It's cool how it combines epic moving strings with the fast yet consistent beat of the percussion. I feel there was a hook or main emotional climax that was missing from this piece for me. I kept waiting for a big drop and it never came.

Endless Desert
Kusanagi Village
Treasure Town

Alto's Odyssey - An Endless Desert 8.5 A somewhat simple repeating beat that transforms and evolves into something beautiful. I haven't played the game but this song in itself resembled a quiet but hopeful odyssey.

SOUND VOLTEX III GRAVITY WARS Konran Shoujo Soflan-chan!! 3 Sugary and infectious, this song is like japanese music on some sort of disruptive overdose. It's ok.. but it's less like music to me and just an amalgamation of voices and sound effects. The overly chaotic energy and lack of a strong center just kills it for me. I will say it certainly does not lack zip nor peppiness. I don't know much about music but I bet this song had a nightmare amount of time changes hehehe.

Gran Turismo 5 Night birds 7 A bombastic yet contemplative track that fits any and all of those nights where you feel alone against the world. The jazz is vibrant and lushly energetic.

Okami Kusanagi Village 7.5 Slow methodical nature creeps up and envelops you until youre completely entranced by the presence of japanese folklore and a brooding set of sounds. Then (about a third in) you get yanked from your shell and are whisked away on a flourishing and wild adventure, before settling back down to the groove of life. I liked the journey and emotion this track told. It really made me feel at peace

Dreams - Time Moves Slow (Home) 4.5 This song reminds me of my life and all the decisions I've taken to be where I am now. It seeps into my soul and fills me with a mix of serenity, anxiety, satisfaction and some type of reflection. The background music got a little repetitive, and some of the directions the music went seemed to contrast weirdly with the vocals, making it seem fractured. Still at its core, it was a nice song

Pokmon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness - Treasure Town 8 Love the cute and warm home energy this gives. I have a huge amount of nostalgia for this song as I played this game endlessly in my childhood. The way the chords rise and resolve are so amazing

human's figure
Avarice
Hello 31337

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker The Great Sea 6.5 Ahh the quintessential "let's go on a grand adventure" song.I love how the bass and percussion backing work in a way to constantly push the melody forward, so it sounds like you're exploring and going on an exciting journey. Idk if it's the key or certain notes, but there's an air of nostalgia as well. In the end, it's pretty vanilla, and doesn't hit me super hard, but it's a solid track.

Chaos Field human's figure 8 This is a cool track with a great beat. I like how the synth high notes feel like they're dancing and moving all over the place. It's very ethereal but in a modern sense. The parts that sound like drills/machinery are a little irritating but they add to the feel of the song so it's not overly distracting.

Donut Dodo - Dodo's Lair 5 One thing that this track has going for it: it's always moving. There's a lot of changes in the bit by bit melody. There's a lot of ideas that are combined together. It does feel somewhat connected through the bass beat, but idk. it's still a bit too chaotic and disjointed for me.

Death's Door Avarice 7 I love how this track repeats its motif with ever increasing intensity and instrumentation. The solid guitar core with the backing "aahhs" of the vocals make this feel quite epic. This makes me feel as if I were on a swashbuckling pirate ship that was also a huge sprawling dungeon with thunder and lighting crashing out around me due to the intense rock.

Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland The Wind's Blooming Mountain 5.5 Hello interesting soundfont. Furious, energetic woodwinds whip at you before receding back for the accordion (?) to fill the air. It sounds like a battle that would take place between a couple of rowdy french artisans. There's something a little dissonant about the sound of this that I don't like too much. I do like the general idea it was trying to present but it's too varied and all over the place. Very much a rough, unpolished gem.

Dariusburst - Hello 31337 7.5 The way the electronic beeps layer and pierce the air before echoing away is super cool. This would usually be what i'd call "noisecore" for lack of a better term, a genre i typically hate, but this one is light enough or has a semblance of a melody that I actually enjoy it, despite the crushed and pitchy sounds.

Club Leader Duel
Moon without the stars
Kaze no Ne

Pokemon Trading Card Game Club Leader Duel 7 At some points the GB's sound chip sounds grating, but this ost is pretty awesome regardless. The parts where the low notes hum are to die for. This defintely feels like a battle that is playful yet menancing.

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: Burst Forth!! Choro-gon Breath Imaginary Shopping District 4 This sounds very sweet and high energy, but the skipping like sound is irritating for me. It's just a little too techno for my taste. The change up in instrumentation halfway thru is my favorite part.

Deemo Moon without the stars 9 My nomination! I just love how nostalgic and calming the vocals are. I think the way the background vocals echo the main singer adds to the dreamy like sound. The "Turning back the hands of time" part is one of my favorites. The background instruments are pretty sparce, but they add good texture and accentuate the strong points of the song.

Xenoblade Chronicles Mechonis Field 7.5 Very innerly energetic. I love how the instruments and volume ebb and flow to vary the intensity. The various times when the mechanical beeps come in add interest and mystique to the song.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land The Battle of Blizzard Bridge 4 Too chaotic and all over the place for me, but the mechanical noises do provide interest and uniqueness. The guitar solos are fun to hear. It's weird, this isnt what i'd typically associate with kirby music, so i might have to listen to this ost more.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Kaze no Ne 8 The softness of the vocals contrasting with the vivacity of the instrumentation is quite powerful. I love when the wind instruments flow in and out to add extra life to the song. It really starts picking up and getting great about halfway in.

Dreams in a Pie
Heavens Divide
Secret of the Forest

Napple Tale: Arsia in Daydream - Dreams in a Pie - 8 - Light and magical, this sounds like something i'd hear when entering a holy land of pure happiness. It gets stuck in my head pretty easily. I like when the background voices harmonize and repeat along with the main vocals.

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood - Ghost Ship Painting - 6 - Like a techno jungle. This track has a lot of layered elements that all blend together in an interesting way. The synths and electronic like beats are my favorite, but the song lacks a good hook overall.

Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan Labyrinth V - Forgotten Capital - 6.5 - A quiet jazz track that propels me forth through some sinister dungeon. The melodramatic piano notes are probably my favorite part. The trumpet swells are also nice.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker - Heavens Divide - 7 - MGS songs like this are always emotional. The powerful vocals with the orchestra and high piano notes really dive into the soul. The melodic progression is pretty appealing too.

Fire Emblem Awakening - "Don't speak her name!" - 4.5 - Fire emblem music and grand orchestra typically isnt my liking. This sounds like something playing at an important crossroads or maybe in the midst of a royal battle. There's nothing much wrong with it, but it's not interesting to me. The trumpets and piano that break up the music a third of the way in are my favorite part

Chrono Trigger - Secret of the Forest - 7 - The piano melody at the start is my favorite. it's fast but it conveys a sense of calmness that caries through the track accentuated by the other instrumentation like the slow drums. Overall it all combines together to whisk me away to a lively but serene magical forest.
