Fetus of God [8]

Gusty Garden Galaxy [8]

Shard [7.5]
Two Planets Approach the Roche Limit [7.8]

Alright day for me, honestly. I love Kirby final boss themes, but I don't really feel too much from Roche Limit - there's a handful that I would easily prefer. Rock Castle is certainly interesting, but for once I feel a little more with Gusty Garden Galaxy, which I always thought was nice but kinda overblown in terms of popularity. Match 1 has some good synths working with both choices, but I'm feeling non-Touhou for this match, even if it's a close pick for my standards.

-the third match is difficult enough-- and I'm pressed for time enough-- that I don't think I can give it the focus it needs for a well-thought decision
-Roche Limit does remind me at times of Suite: The Star-Conquering Traveler First Movement: Playfully Crushing Stars in a few ways

From Toxtricity:
Fetus of God (Vampire Savior)
Rock Castle (Opoona)
Shard (Mirror's Edge)

I love metric modulation(tempo changes with relevance to rhythms involved in song in a tricker just like that australian man who put his arm around my neck). Its a lot like cyberbots colonial satellite which is by this same composer it seems to be . also VERY GOOD NOTE CHOICFES FOR ME

I miss the time when I firmly believed the abrupt jump to that one remix of this song was actually exactly how this song goes for real. A video that did that was used when this was in some b8 thing before probably bost

Mario : ) *koji kondo in the distance*mario is NOT CUTE; NOT CUTE i say. NOT A CUTE GUY. get that image out of your head RIGHT NOWerase that

Opoona - rock castle, is my favorite piece of music. Of all time. This is all i have to say, today. I said something bigger about it on b8 discord when i ran my vgm guessing game of my top 50 favorite songs if someone wants to copypaste that i guess i dont have that on hand right now

The mirrors edge logo looks like the edge of klonoas fluffy ears; maybe that is why its called mirrors edge, it is a reference to the Mira-Mirans in klonoa 2 who like to look at mirrors of history all day just like me

Kirby that funky pink. That design was just for that iridescent david

U.N. Owen Was Her?
Gusty Garden Galaxy
Two Planets Approach the Roche Limit

Fetus of God 5.5 Deadly and cybertronic. I like the layered funky breakdown in the second half. The rest is just mind bogging grey music.

U.N. Owen Was Her? 7 This reminds me of some classical music i think? Unless I've just hear so many touhou and flandre themes now I'm reminded of those. The piercing strings add a lot of energy and tension to the song. When they combine with the vibrato of a lower instrument, dancing in and out to a constant rhythm, it's quite enthralling. I liked the song the most when it wasn't as touhou-ish.

Gusty Garden Galaxy 8.7 A galatic sized fanfare, created to capture the hearts and imaginations of every music lover. Is it the most perfect piece of music? Nah. But it handles a real sense of joy and emotion that compartamentalizes everything nintendo and mario stands for. There's a true adventure to the song. I also appreciate the slower, subdued section to give it some variety.

Rock Castle 3.5 A scattering of pieces light up the ground as starships with ominous alien sounds and heavy, towering fanfare, ravage the land. There's not much melody to grab onto with this, but maybe it sounds better in context? Nothing for me to connect to.

Shard 4.5 Invented lonlieness. A persistent but necessary despair. This track has violent intentions but they're kinda subdued, like the person hasn't totally succumbed to evil. All I get are these sort of feelings and more. There's some neat rhythm and bangerness to it, but the tension is put at the forefront.

Two Planets Approach the Roche Limit 7 Tasteful robot music. I'm surprised by how diverse Kirby music can be. Actually a lot of new switch titles are changing the standard motifs for mainstay games. Pokemon Legends of Arceus, Breath of the Wild, and now Kirby. I like how it souns like there's a beautiful orchestra piece that is struggling to hold up against a cybernetic invasion of rock and electronic. It's a weird fusion that I can appreciate for it's complexity and thematic intertwining.

OH MY GOODNESS: so you have not imagined it. This is like everything i loved about the mood of "lightning bug" or "altered genos" but dialed up to 50000x, maybe even arlosa mine too. i think "that mood" whatever it is, is my favorite one now

THAT BRASS SECTION (volk factory). I think that might be my favorite harmonic moment in any song ever what the fucking FUSE. HOW DID HE DO THAT . THAT LOW BRASS IS GOING UP , and these transposing dissonant brass clusters somehow going down sound GRAND AND BEAUTIFUL; but they're like, these mean clusters. what's going on. I lose my balance because i am so knocked over by how perfectly cool feeling this section of the song is harmonically; WHAT DID HE DO

transpoosing fourths and fifths around by whole tone intervals just sounds so cool

I LOVE HOW EVERYTHING IN THIS SONG SOUNDS LIKE IT IS A MESSED UP CASSETTE TAPE; those synth pads are like, so absurdly complex in their sound. everything is just bending slightly.

Opoona is like the "holy "version of klonoa,. ; these RHYTHMS;' these polyrhythms have enveloped my soul. drums in 16ths AND triplets at once and it's so DENSE AND COOL. THat ANGRY CHOPPED CHIMES it starts with?! That chime is

kimihiro abe is a simultaneous master of exactly my favorite type of composition AND favorite type of sound design; there's a reason i say he is my favorite video game music composer.

U.N. Owen Was Her?
Rock Castle
Two Planets Approach the Roche Limit

A song called Fetus of God and it's not from Binding of Isaac. Top 10 VGMC plot twists imo. The song unfortunately doesn't do a lot for me. It's going for this mix of cool and dark/creepy and it doesn't really feel like it nails either. U. N. Owen is one of the Touhou songs I actually like. Very cool melody.

Gusty Garden Galaxy has never appealed to me; I just find it kind of boring overall, though the solo trumpet part is pretty cool. Rock Castle is a really interesting song with cool instruments. Sometimes there's a bit too much going on without a clear melodic direction and I'm not sure exactly how much I like it overall, but fortunately its opposition is weak enough that I don't really have to figure that out.

Match 3 pretty cleanly has the best songs today. Like both of them a lot.
