I thought coven of chaos was pretty funny.

Lol disney, they really decided to make an entire series around a character in a one-off show because she happened to be really popular with the fans and audience. So they decided that was enough to make center an entire show on.

Peter Falk's health would start to deteriorate after this (and he was already 76 when this aired) so it pretty much served as the series finale. But honestly I agree with the sentiment that it kinda works as a finale. Instead of some big larger than life final case, it's just Columbo as he always was, steadily working case by case, bit by bit at cracking said case.

So that's why I literally never heard of the sega saturn until I joined the internet... I just read up on that "$299" PS1 announcement and it's crazy that sega even recovered from that enough to make the dreamcast before bowing out of the video game console industry. I thought they went from Genesis to Dreamcast because that's what people around me had

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExaAYIKsDBI

The first one in the polls seems the most historic.

But boy does Nintendo's hate of piracy drive them to make some weird decisions, like the ugly gamecube mini-disc. It still drives them to this day. And I get it, video games are literally their livelihood they're not quite the conglomerate that Microsoft is with several divisions and money out the wazoo.

Ps3's infamous price point basically cost Sony not just 1st place but 2nd, yet it also forced them to reevaluate so that's good. Like Nintendo, if Sony goes unchecked they'll do even more anti-consumer things.

The "ps3 as bluray player" is funny to me because it was true, the console came out right when bluray won over HD DVD and it was the reason that the higher hardware sales were at odds with the lower software sales. But it's extra funny because while bluray did effectively replace DVDs, the move to digital in the 2010s has made it so that most people just stream movies in the 2020s, and bluray is mostly for diehard fans of whatever media it's holding. I've noticed it's mostly the older generation still buy physical media, while the new generation just watch on their phones, for better or worse.

Wish Microsoft was self-owned in raising the game price point, introducing online, and basically all of DLC... but nope all 3 things especially the last 2 succeeded beyond imagination, much to the detriment of gaming as a whole.

Someone needs to invent this already.

I go trekking through the woods and bits of thorn and bramble always get stuck under my heel, like the ones that fall from these

https://lampofthelambart.files.wordpress.com/2020/01/thorns_plants_spikes_715792_o.jpg

Once every blue moon I'll be unlucky and end up stepping on a particularly long thorn that ends up really stuck way up my shoe, almost up to the insole. Getting it out with every day tweezers is a chore, sometimes next to impossible especially if I don't want to risk breaking it off while still inside the shoe because at that point I'll have to cut my losses and buy another shoe altogether, and all that that entails.

I think you have to put the film in its proper context. In 1989, when most people thought of Batman, they thought of the 1960s campy Adam West version. This Batman was the first one to bring a darker (comparatively) tone to the series and did it quite successfully. It was also one of the first big summer blockbusters that had huge merchandise tie-ins (games, books, toys, etc), and made a big splash within the culture. Everyone was wearing batman shirts, consuming batman media, the stuff was everywhere! There had never been anything like it except for maybe Star Wars.

It definitely was. While Superman 78 was the first big superhero movie, the cultural impact that Batman 89 had was unparalleled, and it is arguably considered the movie that broke barriers and allowed all successive comic book media with complex storylines or characters, be it tv show or movie, to exist in some shape or form. Batman was almost considered a goofball before this movie, on an Aquaman level, due to stuff like the Adam West show and Superfriends.

I honestly credit this game not having the Buu arc as a reason why I like it the least of the main story arcs.

I played this game so much as a kid that saiyan saga to cell saga WAS dragon ball z to me. The Buu saga did not exist and the series ended with cell.

So when i eventually discovered i was missing an entire part of the story, it just felt grafted on and artificial to me. Crazy how your perception of something as a kid can inform some opinions for the rest of your life

Likewise, pretty much the exact same scenario for me

I'll be honest, I don't really disagree (except for the Danny Elfman score). The film is pretty dull, and while Jack Nicholson is, himself, great, his joker was nothing special. Most jokers feel unique and twisted in their own special way; his was a generic mob boss with maybe a couple jokes, and a catchphrase that could have made him one of the Wet Bandits.

The best part about the movie was that it inspired the Animated Series, which is incredible

Even that accomplishment is shared with Batman Returns

I'm all but convinced companies only update websites to screw with users, and shut down any exploits users might have found to make their viewing experience more comfortable. Like it used to be you could watch youtube videos that required a sign-in by simply adding a couple of slashes in the url. Now youtube has removed that convenient shortcut to force you to sign in.

I just hope they don't get rid of the method we use to turns shorts videos back to regular youtube videos, although it's bound to happen.
