Yeah, they're even giving us resume writing meetings and whatnot. They offered me a job with the company, but i'm not moving to california to work at a multinational. Everything i've experienced with their workflow and design philosophy has been soul crushing.

We've known since last feburary (buyout was in april), so it's not a shock. Like right now, it snowed a little bit, so I'll go in for a half day. I'm currently answering emails from my phone, in bed, listening to a podcast. It's great.

I'm living the dream right now.

I'm getting laid off in March (company getting shut down after a buyout).

I'm the only IT person left (network admin), with all the tribal knowledge. I've pretty much shifted most of my responsibility to the other company's IT, so I basically only do an hour or so of work a day (server management/network management).

I work from home at least 1 day a week, I make my own hours, I technically don't have a boss. It's gonna such when I get a real job again, but until they retire all the servers and shut down production (again, march of next year), they'll have a huge PITA time replacing me, not worth the effort because I keep the ship afloat, so they put up with my bullshit.
